Elms Farm Lodge
£270–£395 / week
About the home
Our timber lodge, made from Scandinavian redwood, provides comfortable year round accommodation in a rural setting with views over our open fields. The lodge combines generous living space with two bedrooms (double and twin), integrated kitchen/diner, bathroom with shower and French doors leading onto a south facing veranda which overlooks your own garden (not enclosed), and garden furniture is provided for dining alfresco and relaxing with a glass of wine as the sun sets over the fields. Pets are also welcome.
The farm is a great base for exploring miles of countryside walks many of which cross our farmland. We are also ideally placed for exploring South Leicestershire and for visiting the numerous attractions around the East Midlands including Foxton Locks, Leicester (including the National Space Centre), Market Harborough and the other picturesque market towns in Leicestershire and Rutland such as Melton Mowbray, Oakham and Uppingham.
Our other property, Elms Farm Cottage is a Regional Winner of the MyCottageHoliday Excellence Awards 2011. Check out MyCottageHoliday via the links on our website for independent reviews of our properties.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Leicestershire and Rutland region

Step back in time and delve into Leicestershire's interesting history and heritage. Discover Roman ruins, majestic castles, haunted medieval buildings, historic events and much more.
Leicester is well known as an important Roman settlement, and evidence of this can be seen at the Jewry Wall Museum in the city. Take a guided walk around Castle Park, Leicester's old town and see the medieval Guildhall and the Great Hall of Leicester Castle.
In the west of Leicestershire, visit the Battle of Bosworth Visitor Centre, and find out all about the battle that claimed the life of King Richard III. Battle re-enactments and other historic events regularly take place here.
The county boasts many splendid stately homes including the 17th century Stanford Hall, the majestic Belvoir Castle and the unique Calke Abbey. Medieval jousting festivals are often held at Belvoir, and also at Rockingham Castle near Market Harborough.
Leicestershire is also home to Foxton Locks, a remarkable piece of Victorian engineering, where you can walk along the inclined plane of locks, enjoy a family day of orienteering or hire a narrowboat and enjoy the scenery from the water.
If you enjoy the great outdoors, then you will find lots of thing to enjoy in Rutland, England's smallest County. Outdoor sports are extremely well catered for with plenty of walking and cycling available, plus fishing, golfing and the huge choice of watersports that take place on Rutland Water. The family can Discover Rutland with a Treasure Trail, a fun way to see the market towns of Oakham and Uppingham.
The Fleckney area
Fleckney is the nearest village and just a mile down the road. It's amenities include a chemist, Co-op supermarket, post office, newsagents, butchers, two pubs, a fish and chip shop and a Chinese take-away. There is also a children’s playground on Leicester Road.
There are some lovely unspoilt villages in South Leicestershire including Saddington, Smeeton Westerby, Mowsley, Gumley, Foxton, The Langtons, Slawston, Medbourne and Nevill Holt amongst many. Our nearest town is Market Harborough with its famous 400 year old Grammar School on stilts! The town was established in the mid 12th century and was used in 1645 as Charles I’s headquarters before the decisive Battle of Naseby. Other notable sites include St. Dionysius Church, the Town Hall and the remaining building of Symington’s corset factory, famous for the “Liberty Bodice”, now housing the town’s museum, library and Council Offices.
Within 10 minutes drive are the Wacky Warehouse - an indoor soft play area attached to a family friendly pub;
Chaos Paintball at Husbands Bosworth - includes Tank Paintball, Tank and Military Vehicle driving; Shearsby Valley Lakes - an established complex of three fishing lakes with regular weights exceeding 100lbs and the exciting Drivers Dream Days experience is close by at Bruntingthorpe Airfield. We are also within easy driving distance of Melton Mowbray (home of the famous Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese); Twycross Zoo; Snibston Discovery Park and many other East Midlands attractions.
