The Grand Massif region
Haute Savoie Region is not only blessed with the wonderful ski area of the Grand Massif, which encompases Flaine the "snow bowl resort ", Les Carroz, Morillon, Samoens, Vernant and Sixt. providing an excellant variety of on and off piste sking in all weathers for all levels. Top this with stunning views through out. It also has a Traditional Savoyard Ski Dish, Tartiflette, which can be found on almost any of the regions menus. Enjoy with grilled ham or just green beans, french bread and a glass of Savoyard wine.!
All this with a weather climate of snow and sun that can feel like its the best of summer and winter all rolled in to one.
Enjoy the Flaine bowl with its diversity of slopes through the trees and over powder fields or Les Carroz, Morillon or Samoens. You may be tempted to a whole day sking the Cascades run, a blue 14km long piste, dropping 1700m from up high, down through the trees, past waterfalls and breathtaking scenic route to Sixt but with long flat sections, ski poles required, not the best for snowboarders. Stop for lunch on the way in the Gers Valley but ensure you have time to catch the ski bus back to Samoens. A day for a plan!
Hopefully as before in the winter season, the Farm Market will visit Flaine weekly and tempt us all with local fare from their impressive stalls. Taste or buy from an array of ; giant rounds of ginger cake or nuggart, fabulous selection of olives, spiced oil and nibbles, amazing sausage mixed with cheese, berries or port, a wonderful collection of cheese and street food all to indulge in or just enjoy looking.

"Small but perfectly formed apartment!"
Very well equipped apartment that worked extremely well for the 4 of us. Beds were comfortable and linen good quality. The apartment was decorated to a good standard with modern kitchen and bathroom. It was warm with plenty of hot water available. Being in Flaine Foret and just next to the ski bus tops its also very easy to get to and from slopes. Pauline and Malcolm were kind enough to let us rent a slightly different week Mon-Mon and for that we were very grateful. Malcolm met us on site to settle us in and then again as we were leaving. We were also very grateful for his snowboarding tips! Will definitely get touch if we visit Flaine again.

"Quick blast skiing"
It did exactly what it said on the tin. Well kitted out, tastefully decorated, warm and clean. We wanted somewhere to sleep, eat breakfast, go skiing, have a shower, go out to eat, repeat! The owners were on hand and very helpful. We'll come back.
