Go horse riding, watch polo, horse racing and many more attractions. Many famous restaurants overlook the beaches with their world class menus.
A car is not essential because you can travel on the local buses or hail a Taxi. The barbadian people are very friendly and helpful.
There is a large supermarket in Fitts Village. It is about a five minute walk away. Opposite the supermarket on the beach is the well-known Italian Restaurant ‘Il Tempio’ with a very good beach bar for day time use. There are many restaurants on the main coast road leading into Holetown including the legendary ‘Cliff’ ‘Cocomos’ and ‘Blue Monkey’ restaurants.
For golfers there is the Sandy Lane and Royal Westmoreland golf resorts all within six miles, Sandy Lane being the venue for Tiger Wood’s wedding. There is also the Barbados Golf Club on the south coast.
For cricket fans the Kensington Oval is only three miles away. The beaches on Sundays are the best places to see the locals play.
There are many dive sites located along the west coast. There is no shortage of PADI instructors on the coast. They can arrange dives ranging from the beginners to the experienced. Holetown has ‘West Side Scuba Centre’
There are four Polo grounds in Barbados, the nearest, two miles away at Holder’s Hill behind Payne’s Bay. For Horse Racing fans there is racing most Saturdays at the Garrison which is near Bridgetown. Worth visiting the museum while you are there!
Why not visit a Rum distillery? Go on a Mount Gay Rum Tour to see how one of the oldest rums in the world is made! You can drop in at Malibu Beach Club and visitor centre and spend time on their beach! Both are within three miles near Bridgetown.
For the enthusiastic visitors there are Helicopter trips and even a submarine for scenic views underwater!
For our pampered guests, you can walk along to ‘Escape at the spa’ hotel and treat yourselves to therapies, body wraps, right down to just a manicure! On the way there you will pass the Anglican ‘Church of the Good Shepherd’ where you might see a tropical wedding taking place. It’s a nice place to worship too.
If you can tear yourselves away from all these activities you can go down to the peaceful beach and swim, sunbathe, read and snorkel to your hearts content. You might even spot a turtle or two! A short walk away is Batts Rock. A scenic beach popular place for the catamaran tours to stop and swim. The other way is Paynes Bay where you will be able to hire jet skis etc. The choice is endless.

"easy, relaxing, wonderful"
Organisation - Roz handled the booking really nicely and was helpful in arranging the extra kid-related equipment we needed. We were met on our arrival at the villa, and everything was explained to us - couldn't have been smoother. The lady who cleaned also babysat for our daughter (about $12B an hour) and she was brilliant - allowed us to have a night out alone. Any little fixes seemed to get done same day by the guy employed by the development. Apartment - great. Simply furnished but has everything you need. Easy to keep clean (plus it gets cleaned once a week while you're there anyway), lots of sheets, towels etc. Perfect for self catering, all we needed was there. Fridge is massive, which helps in that climate. Shower was powerful, hot water plentiful and sun-powered. Washing machine big and simple, 2 drying racks and the sun to dry stuff same day. This apartment is opposite the pool and faces the sea, so it's ideal versus the higher numbered ones which are off to one side. Development - set back within the local residences of Fitts village itself, so you get to meet the locals, every one of whom says hello when they see you and couldn't be more friendly. It's worth knowing that this is a development with several full-time residents, and being empathetic to their way of life is a must for a successful holiday - they're lovely and very helpful provided you are thoughtful (taking your kids to the pool at 6am annoys everyone, but them in particular - just be mindful). That said, the pool is warm (again - heated by sun only), clean (I think it was cleaned daily) and the gardens are tended every few days. There are chickens which run around the development - but then that's the Caribbean in a nutshell and is part of its charm. Location - in Fits Village between Holetown and Bridgetown. Takes 7 mins on the bus to Holetown (great supermarket, great 24 hour medical centre), 3 mins walk to Jordans supermarket (OK for basics but not for a fortnight of eating). 3 minute walk to a coffee place (new) and the beach. Set back from the main road so that it's quiet, but if you want to grab a bus anywhere else it's only 2 mins walk to the bus stops. Overall - this very quickly just felt like home and we'd not hesitate to come back again. Thank you

"Comfortable Base to explore the island"
Situated off the main road this is a pleasant house with a view of the shared pool. We virtually had the pool to ourselves for the week. We hired a car as there isn't really much within walking distance and we like to explore the island, although you could use the local buses. You are mainly surrounded by local residents who are getting on with life so expect early morning noise, dogs barking and cockerels crowing, it was not an issue to us. Look out for the visiting monkey. The house is well equipped but if taking children I would suggest some DVD,s as the tv is not connected to a signal/satellite. There is wifi so you can use the Internet etc and a phone for local calls.. The property was clean and the bed comfortable. The gardens are well maintained and the pool was clean. The closest supermarket is Jordan's but Savacentre in Holetown is much better in my opinion. If you prefer luxury and seafront position this is not the property for you but if you are on a budget and need somewhere clean and comfortable this house will not disappoint.

"Faboulous, great tranquil location"
Roz the owner was very helpful and accommadating. The propery is well equipt for a family of four. It is in a peaceful location and the pool and garden area is wonderful as are the neighbours. There is sooo much to do in Barbados, but we were especially there for Carnival and the rum of course :) There is Jordan's supermarket within walking distance but we preferred the larger Savacentre which is approximately a ten minute drive away which had more choice and we found more value for money. Will definatly recommend family and friends to check out Ajoupa Villas - better than staying in a noisy hotel any day of the week!
