Home description

Fully renovated village house with open plan kitchen, living and dining room with original beams, ornate fire place and tiled floor. Newly fitted shower room and WC on the ground floor. 3 bedrooms with wooden floors. Bathroom with free standing enamel bath, high powered shower, WC, basin, underfloor heating and unique decor. Comfortably sleeps 6 people.
Fitou is world famous for its wine. It's streets are indicative of rural France at its best. The village is situated in the shadow of its chateau and has a number of restaurants, a bar(tabac), bakery, supermarket and numerous wine tasting caves.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

Sunniest region in France. Fitou is famous for its wine. The Languedoc region was home to the Cathars and their colourful history. Just to the west is the start of the many Cathar Castles. The etang (inland sea) has mussels and oysters harvested and these can be sampled right on the docks.
Nearby Narbonne and Montpellier, to the north, are beautiful cities and to the south lies Perpignan with the Spanish border only 30 mins drive.
Also to the west are the magnificent Pyrenees for walking, skiing, white water rafting or to just admire.


Fitou area

The sandy Mediterranean beaches are 10 mins away. The nearest La Franqui, Port Leucate and Le Barcares all have shops and restaurants. La Franqui hosts the World wind surfing championships.
15 mins away is Carrefore a hypermarket, the complex also includes a bowling alley, cinema screens and a go-kart track.
At Port Leucate there is an Aqualand and Adventure park and Marina.
Fitou has 2 signed walks 8.7km and 11km and three mountain bike trails. There is also plenty of wine tasting!
