About this location
The Cornwall region
The Cornish coast has great beaches with wonderful unspoilt sea views, accessible via the famous coastal path, many areas of which are thoughtfully maintained by the National Trust, creating marvellous walks.
As an alternative to walking locally, If you wish, you can easily travel coast to coast within an hour by car, allowing comfortable access to both the North and South coasts and surrounding areas and attractions within a day.
Delicious food and particularly sea food is readily accessible and Cornwall has an excellent reputation for quality restaurants, a development which has been led by world class chefs like Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver. Of course when in Cornwall you must try some of the local delicacies like pasties, saffron buns and of course clotted cream.
With excellent access by road, air and rail, Cornwall now boasts the internationally acclaimed Eden Project as well as many established traditional, family friendly attractions, complementing the historically famous and wonderfully picturesque seaside towns and villages that abound.
Fistral Beach and its neighbouring Newquay golf course joins Newquay town to Pentire with its northerly views over the dramatic Atlantic Ocean and its southern aspect onto the beautiful Gannel Estuary. At low tide you can cross the Gannel and enjoy Crantock Beach. At high tide in the summer months a ferry service runs across the river.
As well as the surfing for which Fistral is globally famous, it offers a beautifully clean, mostly sandy beach, where the family can safely play. The whole town supports the surfing community and as well as catering for experienced surfers it is easy to hire gear and obtain tuition if you are keen to develop skills in this area.
In addition to the lovely beaches that surround the town, Newquay also has a working harbour, offering fishing trips, as well as an insight into an important local industry. Newquay has a partly pedestrianised shopping area, a new cinema, a zoo, bowling green, aquarium, swimming pool and a number of other local attractions.
There is a Sainsburys supermarket within walking distance of the apartment and a large Morrisons on the outskirts of Newquay.
