Home description
Chateau de Firbeix is a large yet homely country house situated between Limoges and Perigueux, in the “parc natural regional Perigord/Limousin” area of the Perigord Vert and just outside the village of Firbeix. This property, dating from the 14th century has been carefully converted to provide 2 private self-catering holiday homes each with lots of character. It is approached along a blue cedar tree-lined, quiet country lane, which has very little traffic. The heated swimming pool, poolside terrace with sun loungers and parasols, the games room in a barn at the rear of the property, the extensive gardens with many mature and unusual trees, flower beds, and lots of grassy areas for ball games, provide something for all ages. There are benches and seats in sunshine and in shade. Fishermen are not forgotten with private fishing in a nearby lake as well as in the fishing lake in Firbeix. Booked in conjunction with our adjoining holiday home Les Glycines sleeping 8 ( no 11757 ) the two adjacent properties are ideal for family reunions or groups of friends providing a lot of space and allowing togetherness with privacy.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
The gentle climate of this area with its generally hot summer days, balmy evenings for barbeques, warm springs and autumns mean that holidays can be enjoyed outside the traditional July and August period. Chateaux abound, many holding exhibitions. There are pretty villages to explore, the famous french country markets in most villages and towns to visit, and an array of restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.
Firbeix area
Firbeix is a small village with a boulangerie, bar/tabac, garage and post office. There are well stocked super markets in both Chalus and La Coquille, both at 3 miles distant with banks, doctors and chemists. The village has its own lake for fishing. There are miles of woodland tracks for walking and mountain biking. Within a short drive the more adventurous can try rock climbing in Jumihlac or go-karting in Pageas. Night markets are becoming increasingly popular as well as brocantes. Every small village seems to hold a fete in the summertime and the one in nearby St.Pierre de Frugie is quite spectacular

Further details indoors: A lot of thought has been given to make this holiday home very suitable families with small children and its situation near the children's play area and the fenced pool mean that a watchful eye can be kept on them from the comfort of the lounge or whilst relaxing on the private terrace. English Satellite TV and a DVD player as well as a CD player and video are provided. There are window locks on the large window in the bunk bedroom whilst the smaller window retains its orignal iron bars, a stairgate at the top of the stairs and a safety rail on the gas range cooker. The workmanship and the furniture and fittings are of a very high standard and the property has the benefit of gas central heating for the chillier times of the year. The bedrooms are spacious and airy and the bath and shower rooms are well appointed.
Further details outdoors: The established and well cared for gardens extending to about 5 acres contain many unusual trees and large grassy areas, providing lots of space for ball games as well as secluded seating in sunshine or in shade for total relaxation. There is a children's play area with sandpit, slide, swings and a picnic table. A range of bikes from very small to adult ones are here for your use. There are badminton, boules and a football net in the garden. The heated pool is salinated and securely fenced with underwater lighting and the terrace has poolside loungers and parasols as well as poolside illumination. The games room has table tennis, a multigym, plenty of Lego and children's toys and a computer with internet access.
