The location of Archipel Mansion is hard to beat. Unsurpassed views overlooking the world famous Volcano, nestled in an unspoiled and discreet neighbourhood - and rather importantly - easy access to the Mansion. This translates into no endless footpaths, uphill and hard to navigate stairs to reach your accommodation. The heart of Fira or the village of Firostefani is a mere ten minute leisurely stroll away.

The Mansion, family owned for centuries, boasts a rich history. The house has been reconstructed taking the form of a contemporary interpretation of the neo-classical style, which was popular amongst the affluent inhabitants of the island around the 19th century. Highlights of the home include striking domes, thick walls and vaulted ceilings – the symbiosis of old and new results in an atmosphere of understated luxury and authenticity.

The décor is a charming and eclectic mix of family heirlooms, modern pieces, old engravings, original paintings and treasures which are a feast to the eye. The effortless style is welcoming, comforting and one feels relaxed the moment you enter.

Archipel Mansion accommodates up to10 guests and consists of the Mansion and Guest House, which has two independent cottages. The property is united around a luxuriant, sun-drenched courtyard with various outdoor seating and dining areas.

Upon entering the Mansion, you immediately feel at ease. High cross-vaulted ceilings are not only a notable traditional feature, but also allows for a fresh and spacious feeling to the house. Your eye is immediately drawn to the inviting lounge with large windows and doors leading out to the verandah and that all-inspiring view.

The kitchen is simple a delight. Well equipped with modern features, and quirky add-ons. One is sure to enjoy preparing light meals in this charming environment.

You will find two double en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor with the third double bedroom up a short flight of stairs, delighting its occupants with an uninterrupted view of the Caldera.

All bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and two of the bedrooms can be converted to twin bedded rooms. The great design of the home lends itself to a great indoor-outdoor flow, allowing you to enjoy the out-of-doors living.

Life in Greece -especially to the Aegean islands- is particularly appropriate for outdoor living. The property offers this opportunity to the maximum: Built-in benches with comfortable sofas around wooden tables, the breakfast table with its cool and all-time classic “Kafeneion” chairs, the relaxing chaises-longue arranged on the front terrace, the open air areas shaded by either cross-vaults, pergolas or sun umbrellas, and the big outdoor polished cement table, provide the property with a variety of outdoor possibilities for any time of the day. The whole place is surrounded by islets of gardens, planted with a variety of endemic plant species: a pomegranate tree, oleanders, hibiscus and bougainvilleas along with a fan of aromatic plants, such as basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, lavender and mint. And through this charming setting we take a walk to the Guest House.

The Guest House has its own easily accessible private entrance and the house consists of two levels.

Upon entry you will reach the first double bedroom which has a light and airy feel. Original decorative touches, an en-suite bathroom, kitchenette and private verandah with el-fresco seating complete it perfectly.

The second double bedroom is reached via an external flight of stairs, which leads you to the entrance and a wonderfully shaded courtyard. One has to feel the heat of the Greek sun on your skin, to truly appreciate the shaded reprieve. This part of the Guest House consists of two adjoining rooms. Upon entry there is a comfortable seating area and a kitchenette, perfect for preparing light snacks, and a spacious and bright double bedroom with bathroom.

Both bedrooms can be turned into twin beds should you prefer.

The Cyclades region

Archipel Mansion is located to the northern highest point of Fira, in the most unspoiled part of the old town, known as Fraggomahalas. Just above the Mansion you will be impressed by the restored castle-house Goulas, one of the five medieval Casteli of Santorini and the only one which has been fully restored. At the edge of the cliff the Nomikos conference center is located, which hosts a well known music festival that takes place each September. A few meters below you can visit Megaro Gyzi, a renovated family mansion of 17th century, converted to a cultural center owned by the Catholic Church. Of great importance is the Catholic Diocese complex, comprising the churches of St John the Baptist (mid-17th century) and the Rosaria Dominican Convent (built in 1825). If you find yourself at the time of Holy Mass you will feel –actually listen- the medieval origins of the Order, a tradition that continues today with the 14 nuns living permanently at the monastery. Nearby of great interest is one of the oldest mansions in Fira, The Vazegios mansion with Venetian architectural influences. The older firianoi (inhabitants of Fira) still remember Aunt Eleni, the youngest of the seven Vazegiou daughters, staring – in the company of her beloved cat - from her room's window in the upper floor. Right in front of the house lies the Archaeological Museum with a beautiful indoor patio and palm trees on the renovated square right in front. Nearby lies the cable car that leads to the old port. And last, but not least we must mention the splendid small church of Agios Stylianos, clinging to the edge of the caldera, which is rightly one of the most recognizable landmarks of Fira.

Fira Firostefani

The center of the city, where the central bus station, taxi rank, and most clubs and commercial shops are situated, is a mere ten minutes walk by foot through the paved pedestrian streets.

A - must do - walk is towards Firostefani, following the “fridi”, the paved pathway that stretches along the top of the caldera, with a really special and an ever exciting sunset spot. Before arriving to the “plateia” of Firostefani, you are passing by the Catholic church of Panagia from the yard of which you may gaze at the ever changing view of the Santorini archipelago.

The property can be easily reached by car, being on the top of the caldera bay. The cable car, leading to the old port, is located at a walking distance of five minutes. Public parking area, free of charge, is available near the property.
