The local bus service runs between Finestrat, Benidorm the local beaches and main shopping areas.
Colourful vibrant and decidedly spanish, Finestrat is situated just inland of Benidorm and is sandwiched between the mountains and the sea .
Steeped in history this is one of the few villages on the Costa Blanca that remains undiscovered and yet is just a few miles drive to the busy town of Benidorm. The Village House has all the quirks and charm of a traditional spanish house with all the mod cons.
Finestrat has a colourful history with the Romans building the first settlement here -but today the feel is overtly spanish. The town has retained many traditional features such as the natural spring water font where the locals still collect their water. The village dates back 1,500 years and has been declared a historic site, and it stands on the foundations of an ancient Arab castle. The village has magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea, and the architecture in the area has, in general, a Moorish influence. Finestrat perfectly combines the cosmopolitan coastal attraction of nearby la Cala, teamed with the natural high peaks of Puig Campana, which is 1410 meters in height. The village is located just 5 miles from the beach, and rises on a hill marked by its peculiar hanging houses and narrow streets.
Every month, recreational facilities are offered in Finestrat. There is plenty in the way of cinema, music, theatre, tourist lectures and cultural tours to suit every taste and age.
Finestrat golfing offers several venues in the local area.
Some of the important dates in Finestrat include January 5 which is the feast of the Three Kings; with a procession and distribution of gifts to the children. Easter is celebrated with traditional religious processions. The patron saint of Finestrat is St Bartolome, and during august there is a fiesta in honour of him. There is always great live music, dancing in the streets, fireworks and plenty of sporting events. The second fiesta is held between September 17-19 , usually at nearby La Cala, where there are parades, music, dancing, and children’s entertainment.
There are many, many places to visit whilst enjoying your holiday at the village house- the exciting towns of Benidorm (its actually really nice!) and Alicante are nearby, along with the huge theme park, Terra Mitica, the water parks, zoo's, caves etc.. the list really is endless. Finestrat has many festivals, when the village comes alive with tradition and folk lore. The area has the best theme and water parks in the whole of Spain -Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Acualandia, Mundomar, Riosafari etc...The perfect location for all the family.
Only 8 kilometres from Benidorm, guests can enjoy the perks of being close to such a major town while avoiding the tourists that inundate the resort in summer. Couple this with friendly residents a welcoming local community and the fabulous weather. and you are looking at a fantastic destination.
Markets: There are excellent morning markets at Benidorm on Sundays, Altea on Tuesdays and Villajoyosa on Thursdays. There is a small market in Finestrat itself on a friday morning.
For all you fishermen, the property is only 15 minutes from a big reservoir (60 million cubic metres) where for just 5 euros per day you can fish for carp; black bass and trout.

"Beautiful house in the heart of a lovely village"
We stayed here for 4 nights and really wished it had been longer. The house was really beautiful, a proper Spanish village house, full of character. The roof terrace was amazing for watching the sunset over the mountains whilst sipping a cool glass of sangria and I loved waking up in the comfortable master bedroom listening to the sounds of a typical Spanish village below. The house is within walking distance of many tapas bars and is perfect for people who want to immerse themselves into traditional Spanish village life, we would definitely return here again.
