The Valenciana region

This Village House is situated in the historical picturesque village of Finestrat appoximately Located 35 kilometres north of Alicante on the Costa Blanca, the village of Finestrat lies appoximatly 5 miles inland from benedorm, at the base of the scenic Puig Campana mountain. The scenery from the village house is stunning with a mountainous backdrop and views of traditional spanish life. The village is also home to one of the regions best fiestas.

An ideal location to explore Spain. Finestrat makes an ideal base for walkers, climbers, cyclists, fishermen

& nature lovers or anyone just wishing to experience real Spain and a slower pace of life. For the more adventurous, there are facilities including paint-balling, jeep safaris, off road driving, go-karting, and quad bikes for hire nearby.

finestrat is 10 minutes form the nearest golf course. And 15 minutes from large reservoir for fishing.

There are also a number of picture book beaches only a short bus ride away with talcum powder sand and clear blue waters. These include la Cala de Finestrat, Benidorm and Villajoyosa and further afield are Torres and Estudiantes.

The local bus service runs between Finestrat, Benidorm the local beaches and main shopping areas.

Colourful vibrant and decidedly spanish, Finestrat is situated just inland of Benidorm and is sandwiched between the mountains and the sea .

Steeped in history this is one of the few villages on the Costa Blanca that remains undiscovered and yet is just a few miles drive to the busy town of Benidorm. The Village House has all the quirks and charm of a traditional spanish house with all the mod cons.

Finestrat has a colourful history with the Romans building the first settlement here -but today the feel is overtly spanish. The town has retained many traditional features such as the natural spring water font where the locals still collect their water. The village dates back 1,500 years and has been declared a historic site, and it stands on the foundations of an ancient Arab castle. The village has magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea, and the architecture in the area has, in general, a Moorish influence. Finestrat perfectly combines the cosmopolitan coastal attraction of nearby la Cala, teamed with the natural high peaks of Puig Campana, which is 1410 meters in height. The village is located just 5 miles from the beach, and rises on a hill marked by its peculiar hanging houses and narrow streets.

Every month, recreational facilities are offered in Finestrat. There is plenty in the way of cinema, music, theatre, tourist lectures and cultural tours to suit every taste and age.

Finestrat golfing offers several venues in the local area.

Some of the important dates in Finestrat include January 5 which is the feast of the Three Kings; with a procession and distribution of gifts to the children. Easter is celebrated with traditional religious processions. The patron saint of Finestrat is St Bartolome, and during august there is a fiesta in honour of him. There is always great live music, dancing in the streets, fireworks and plenty of sporting events. The second fiesta is held between September 17-19 , usually at nearby La Cala, where there are parades, music, dancing, and children’s entertainment.

Finestrat

There are many, many places to visit whilst enjoying your holiday at the village house- the exciting towns of Benidorm (its actually really nice!) and Alicante are nearby, along with the huge theme park, Terra Mitica, the water parks, zoo's, caves etc.. the list really is endless. Finestrat has many festivals, when the village comes alive with tradition and folk lore. The area has the best theme and water parks in the whole of Spain -Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Acualandia, Mundomar, Riosafari etc...The perfect location for all the family.

Only 8 kilometres from Benidorm, guests can enjoy the perks of being close to such a major town while avoiding the tourists that inundate the resort in summer. Couple this with friendly residents a welcoming local community and the fabulous weather. and you are looking at a fantastic destination.

Markets: There are excellent morning markets at Benidorm on Sundays, Altea on Tuesdays and Villajoyosa on Thursdays. There is a small market in Finestrat itself on a friday morning.

For all you fishermen, the property is only 15 minutes from a big reservoir (60 million cubic metres) where for just 5 euros per day you can fish for carp; black bass and trout.

PLACES TO VISIT IN THE REGION:

ALICANTE (30 mins drive south): Beautiful boulevards, great shopping, interesting port area and old town, plus the Castle of Santa Barbara, and you can also visit the island of Tabarca by boat.

VALENCIA (1hr 30 mins drive north): Spain's 3rd largest city & thought to be more than 2000 years old, and a former Moorish capital. Sights include the Cathedral, the Silk Exchange, Ceramic Museum, & numerous art galleries. Sophisticated shops & magnificent covered food market. Don't miss the futuristic Arts & Science Museum.

JALON VALLEY (1 hour's drive north/inland): Fabulous scenery & unspoilt spanish villages. Here you can see how rural life in Spain has remained unchanged for centuries. Famed for its wine production, from the vantage point of Coll de Rates, it's possible to see the whole valley and, on a clear day, the island of Ibiza.

MORAIRA (40 mins drive north): Formerly a small fishing village - now an up-market town retaining a village atmosphere. Beautiful beach, pretty marina, excellent selection of bars & restaurants, a lively shopping area, and a market on Fridays. EL PORTET (just along the coast) is also worth a visit for the beach and stunning views.

JAVEA: (45 mins drive north): A fascinating mix of old and new - lovely beach, huge choice of restaurants in the port area, and an unspoilt old town which is fun to explore

CALPE (30 mins drive north): Rock of Ifach - a bird/wildlife sanctuary - & Las Salinas Salt Lakes - where pink flamingos congregate. There is also a lively port area that has some fantastic fish restaurants.

VILLAJOYOSA (15 mins drive south): Famous for its old coloured houses that face the sea, and a visit to the Valor chocolate factory is a must!

GUADLALEST: A mountain village 25kms inland from Benidorm - the 2nd most photographed place in Spain! The views from here are stunning. Built by the Moors to defend themselves from invasion, it is entered by going through a hole in the cliff face. Guadalest is also home to the famous arco animal sactury. Well worth a visit!

FONTS D'ALGAR: Situated on the way back from Guadalest - cascading waterfalls & fresh water pools where you can have a welcome swim after a hot day!

"Beautiful house in the heart of a lovely village"

We stayed here for 4 nights and really wished it had been longer. The house was really beautiful, a proper Spanish village house, full of character.
The roof terrace was amazing for watching the sunset over the mountains whilst sipping a cool glass of sangria and I loved waking up in the comfortable master bedroom listening to the sounds of a typical Spanish village below.
The house is within walking distance of many tapas bars and is perfect for people who want to immerse themselves into traditional Spanish village life, we would definitely return here again.
