The Finale Ligure area is a playground for those who love the outdoors. It is rich in history and beauty, where beaches, bays and coves are embraced by the clear blue Mediterranean Sea.

*Finale Ligure and the Mediterranean Sea are about 15 minutes drive away from MountainbikeLodge (9 km), and the wild beauty of Varigotti is a short drive too (12 km). Paved roads lead to the nearest pub/restaurant (5 km) and shop (8 km). The Cornei and Boragni Valleys are all close by, offering a wealth of nature, magnificent old houses and gardens to visit.

ABOUT THE LODGE.

*Our charming, almost two hundred years old stone house, situated near the village of San Filippo, has been lovingly restored to provide an excellent base for lovers of the outdoors . It's a truly special place to stay.

*The MountainbikeLodge offers secluded accommodation in an environmentally-friendly cottage .

*There is a four-person sleeping arrangement in the cottage. We also have a cozy lounge where you can snuggle up on one of the large sofas, and, in the winter months, warm up in the glow of the log fire.

*We have one double bed on each of the first and second floors, one of these can be made into two single beds. We also have single beds on the wooden "mezzanino" which may be made available upon request.

*For those of you who prefer to sleep in a tent, the camping area offers four stone-walled, terraces on the property to choose from. Each terrace has a fresh mountain spring water supply .

*The lower and wider of the terraces provides a shady eating area, outdoor wood-burning BBQ and gas cooking facilities. What at first appears to be a garden shed, opens into a wooden bathroom made from native chestnut. It is quipped with a sink, toilet, shower unit and an 80L, wood-heated water tank.

*In the warmer months, you can relax on the large, grapevine-covered patios, perhaps with a glass of local wine or beer, whilst overlooking the landscaped garden and remembering the amazing day you have just had.

*The vast land that surrounds us is a combination of local forest and the Lodge's garden, from where your adventure begins. Soft, early morning sun rays edge their way over the hills and the sunlight stays with us until evening. Bird song accompanies the sound of the flowing river beneath us.

*Originally built in the 1820's, the cottage was used predominantly as a cow and donkey shed with a hay loft above. Now, after years of loving restoration and improvement, it is a welcoming and comfortable eco-lodge - a perfect base for your Finalese holiday. Great attention to detail has been spent in restoring the charm and character of the cottage and maintaining many of the original features, including stone walls and exposed beams.

*The MountainbikeLodge's many 'green' features are in keeping with our belief in being environmentally friendly. We aim to make any future modifications as sustainable and earth friendly as possible.

*Our eco-lodge is built with high thermal insulation and low carbon rating materials, such as local stones, wood, lime, iron, cork and tiles.

*We have solar panels that provide electricity, and a wood stove heating system which provides hot water. It is not possible to use items such as hair-dryers and straighteners here.

*MountainbikeLodge provides guests with outdoor BBQ and gas-cooking facilities. Alternatively, there is a simple yet comfortable indoor arrangement. At your disposal is a kitchenette with a wood burning stove, hob and cooking utensils and a small, rustic dining room with wooden table and chairs and indoor and outdoor eating areas.

*Guests are welcome to explore the woodland and landscaped grounds which are home to a variety of wildlife, including deer and our resident barn owl. There is also an abundance of vegetation typical to the Mediterranean, which we encourage our guests to experience by looking up, smelling the scents and by simply enjoying the scenery.

YOUR MOUNTAINBIKING ADVENTURE.

*MountainbikeLodge is part of a unique biking playground, found in a hidden valley of the Finale Ligure area in the Italian Riviera. There are no crowds - just you, your bike, the great outdoors and, of course, awesome riding. We have access to over 200km of 'all mountain' and 'enduro' trails, not only offering fantastic biking but also breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea.

*Staying at MountainbikeLodge lets you ride many local trails right from the doorstep, as well as an on-site training pump/trail (a twisting loop where many features, such as berms, single and double jumps, a rock-garden, small step-ups, and pumping sections have been created).

*We can rent you:

M-sized Orange, hard-tail, 120mm suspension forks, single-speed, flat pedals;

"Beautiful place, difficult access"

With a 4-wheel drive, access would be no problem. Even with an MTB it's difficult. The upside however from this is that you're completely isolated from the rest of the world, even in the bus… More

The review is right, I'll upgrade the access fireroad to the house even though no other 4x4 cars but mine are permitted on that road as written in the official website. (BTW I had to register my plate at the Land/Forest Ministry). It was probably hard to ride on a hardtail mountainbike because of long bramberries thorns sticking out (it' summer time they grow very fast) and the terrain was really, really dry and under heavvy breaking there's a lot powder. I must admit that the road is quite steep although.
Thanks for your honest review anyway!
Ciao Mike
