THE LAYOUT OF THE MAIN HOUSE AND TWO ADJOINING ANNEXES OFFERS VERY FLEXIBLE ACCOMMODATION. WITH THE MAIN HOUSE BEING SUITABLE FOR 2/4 PEOPLE AND THE LARGER ANNEX ALSO 2/4 PEOPLE PLUS THE SMALL ANNEX 2 PEOPLE. CLARIFICATION FOR THE VARIOUS OPTIONS WILL GLADLY BE SUPPLIED.

This house was the first property beautifully and lovingly restored from ruins by designer-owner Robert, who has spent a number of years bringing this house and part of the adjoining village back to life. The main house was featured in Portugal’s leading house design magazine, Casas de Portugal.

The little village of Salgueiro da Lomba is an ideal location for those looking for peace and tranquillity or as a centre of activity and an ideal jumping off point for those wishing to explore the culture of this beautiful countryside and coastline. Casa da Lomba main house and annexes can be rented separately.

The main house has high white beamed wooden ceilings in the main living area and natural stone walls. There is one large and one small double bedroom. The bathroom in the house has double sinks, shower and bath along with a bidet and toilet. There are quarry tiled floors and a farmhouse styled kitchen area with a large traditional fireplace with wood burner.

The annex which is available separately is complimented by its high ceilings with white beams and walls, large chimney and wood burner, tiled floors, louvered blinds and small kitchen. There is a double bed in the loft area, accessed by a safe ladder, along with a double sofa bed in the ground floor living area. A shower room/toilet is adjoining.

The smaller annex is ideal for teenagers and older children with a double bed on top of a bread making oven to give it character and charm.

For those enjoying cooler times of the year there are wood burning stoves in the living areas and electric/ oil heaters in the bedrooms.

Casa da Lomba is a fully furnished and equipped private home and not a standard rental property and as such needs to be treated with the respect it deserves, we are sure you will understand.

Whilst this house and annex is equipped to a high standard there is the added advantage of an owner living in the same small village, therefore any additional requirements can normally readily be fulfilled.

There are four beautiful exterior eating/seating areas all vine clad together with a large garden area with hammocks, chairs, and loungers. Adjoining is the amazing 50x10m chemical free Eco swimming pool which is surrounded by water lilies and other aquatic plants. There are sun shaded seating areas around and overlooking the pool.

The open countryside adjoins this pretty village making for delightful walking straight from your doorstep.

Wonderful fresh bread is delivered to the village most mornings.

Rental Policy:

Whilst we do not recommend this accommodation for children under five mainly due to steps/ stairs and hillside location we are willing to consider any variation and can accommodate babies and make available a cot.

If you require we are quite willing to shop and stock your kitchen with basics, at cost.

For those staying more than one week there is a full cleaning and laundry service included in the price and additional cleaning services can be made available.

We do not allow house towels to be taken to the pool or the beach and suggest that you bring your own beach towels although we do have a few available at laundry cost.

When using the Eco swimming pool it is essential that water resistant sun cream is used to avoid unsightly eco unfriendly oil film.

There are electric oil heaters available.- small annex (suitable for older children/teenagers only)- smokers welcome in exterior areas only.

Swim in the river in a spectacular gorge just a few kilometres away, and explore the moutains valleys and rivers all around. For days out it is only a short drive to the long sandy beaches of the Silver Coast, the historic university and Templar towns of Coimbra and Tomar, and much much more.

Figueiro dos Vinhos

The nearest town is Avelar (5km) offering the essentials and Ansião (15mins) and Pombal (30mins) have good supermarkets. Figueiró dos Vinhos (15 mins) has a great Saturday market.

"A unique place in paradise..."

Casa da Lomba is one of the houses that you can rent. There are 4 houses and annex, they are build all together as a small group. We are a family with 3 teenagers and have rented Casa Branca, absolutely beautiful, cosy, beautiful interior... Everything was very neatly, and everything was there. We even had our own washingmachine. The pool is so lovely, unique, a little piece of paradise! Our children loved this place immidiately! We also saw Casa da Lomba and one of the other houses. All very beautiful interiors! This place is situated in the mountains, not to far from a supermarked, but still you have to drive about 15 min. to the nearest town. The road to the house is good.
