Home description
The house is well situated within an easy stroll of the village, shops and restaurants. It is also close to Parque da Floresta Golf club at which guests have preferential rates. There are MANY beautiful quiet beaches within a short drive of the village as is the town of Lagos with it's good range of shops, restaurants and Marina. Also Praia da Luz and Salema, two really delightful family resort beaches which never seem crowded.
The village is within the National Park which offers thousands of acres of unspoilt forest to explore and some of the finest beaches in Europe for sheltered swimming and/or surfing on the Atlantic coast. Golf courses abound with special rates available at some.
You will never be lost for something to do and yet you can find complete solitude on many nearby beaches if you wish.

The Algarve region
The Algarve offers a delightful climate throughout the year. The temp rarely rises above 30c or below about 12c. Rainfall is very light compared to the UK and there are often months with none at all. The Atlantic breezes ensure that one is never too hot to sleep without air-conditioning and rarely need more than a light pullover even in winter. There is a vast National Park and many wonderful beaches that range from miles of open surf on the Atlantic Coast to sheltered sandy coves where you will see no one else all day. Beach facilities vary accordingly. Lagos, Sagres and Portimao are some of the towns within easy driving distance and with the new Autoroute junction just 8 miles away, Spain is also within easy reach.
Figueira area
Figueira is a small, unspoilt, farming village and our settlement of 27 houses has been sympathetically built on the edge of the village around beutifully kept gardens and two heated pools. The nearby Parque da Floresta Golf & Country Club maintains the site and there is a 24 hour hotel reception just half a mile from the house. Through the hotel you can sort out any problems and gain access to all the facilities of PDF, some at special rates for our guests.
Reception also have details of all the local attractions, boat trips, horse-riding, fishing, taxis etc. etc and will be pleased to help you book any of them. There is also a really good choice of restaurants at the Parque if you don't feel like the Village atmosphere or the short drive to other villages or towns close by.
How to get there
Fly to Faro or Lisbon. Budget airlines from most UK airports will get you to Faro. If you prefer a few nights in Lisbon, it is a very easy drive on brand new Autoroute to within 8 miles of our house. A journey time of about 3.5 hrs. If you wish to avoid airports then you can get a ferry to Santander and drive south. This would take about 6 to 8 hours direct. But, there are some lovely places to stop over, if you want to make the time. We usually use LUZ Car, based in Lagos, if we fly, and have always found them very helpful and competitive. No queing or bussing with this local firm. Europe Car and Holiday Autos are also very convenient.
