The Tuscany region
Lot of space in this sheet will be requested to tell about this wonderfull piece of land: Tuscany.
I'm sure everyone knows at least something which worth a visit.
There's no recommended season or period to visit Tuscany 'cause every season's got its own enchanting feature to be seen.
The apartment is near Figline Valdarno train station where in few minutes you can reach Arezzo, Firenze, Trasimeno Lake, Cortona (one of the main cutural and artistic center), Laterina (one of the most well-preserved fortified medieval village).
Countless are typical local cuisine farmhouses and restaurants and little local shops where you can find delicious farmer's products.
Lots of those may also arrange wine tasting tours and cooking classes, guided visits among Medicean Villas gardens and vineyards.
Anyway, just ask to the host whatever you may know and she 'll be happy to tell about her native land.
Arno river valley is a green strip of land nestled among Chianti vineyards and olive grooves, on the west side, and Pratomagno high mountains on the east side (up to 1590 mt).
This piece of Tuscany features lots of historical values, although it's not very well known. Beginning from etruscan archaeological findings, to nazi slaughters in the 1944 (Cavriglia and the ghost town of Castelnuovo Dei Sabbioni). From brown coal intensive mining activities, that have left lots of industrial archeology jewels to the famous geological shapes (the Balze) that inspired Leonardo da Vinci Paintings.
The area is full of organic farms and farmer houses where local traditional cultivation techniques are still working.
Lots of villages use to populate their streets with local festivals all over the year (according to traditions or just to celebrate upcoming new season).
Reggello's green hills are famous for excellent extra virgin olive oil production thanks to soil characteristics and many other factors. Near the village, full of simple and handy peoples, are still visitable few olive oil mills, with ancient and modern techniques production processes.
Lots of trekking and horse ridding paths run trough hills and the valley.
Sporting fishing is practiced on the Arno river and some lakes (San Cipriano, Santa Barbara).
