23 Crail Road is located within a small courtyard development in the centre of Anstruther. Built on the site of a traditional fisherman's yard within a conservation area, the development retains many traditional features, including the external stone walls. Completed in 2008, the internal decor and furnishing are of a very high standard. The living/dining room is on the first floor, as is the newly fitted kitchen, complete with new appliances - hob, oven, fridge, microwave, and washer/dryer. Both bedrooms benefit from en suite bathrooms.
The house is only 2 minutes walk from the seafront of Anstruther, an historic fishing village with many amenities. It is ideally placed for exploring the East Neuk of Fife, home to beautiful fishing villages, unspoilt beaches and golf. The famous town of St Andrews is only a 15 minute drive away. For golfers, there are several excellent courses within a 15 minute drive.
Families will find plenty to do in the area and the house provides a fantastic base for exploring this part of Fife. Stay for a week and visit a different beach every day! There is a park with playground and tennis courts just a minute from the house.

The Central Scotland/Edinburgh region
The house is ideal for anyone looking for a a short break or a longer stay on Scotland's sunny east coast. Discover fantastic beaches (which rank among Britain's best), visit the world home of golf in St Andrews, explore the delightful East Neuk fishing villages, or venture further to visit the historic capital of Dunfermline. You can also sample some great fish and chips - Britain's best chippy is on the seafront in Anstruther!
The region is ideal for golfers of all abilities with many golf courses in and around St Andrews, including Kingsbarns and the Old Course, both of which hosted the 2008 Dunhill Cup. There is a course in Anstruther itself, 2 courses in Crail, as well as Elie and Lundin Links.
The area is also ideal for walking, the whole East Neuk coastline is covered by the Fife Coastal Path which is beautiful as far as Lundin Links in the West and St Andrews and beyond in the East/North. Buses run regularly along the coast so you can either take the bus and walk back to Anstruther or vice versa.
Fife / Anstruther area
In Anstruther itself, visit the Scottish Fisheries Museum, or take a boat trip out to the isle of May. Enjoy the local beaches, take time out at one of the many excellent seafront cafes, stroll round the harbour or take a walk along the coastal path. There is a golf course 10 minutes walk away, a children's playground and tennis courts just next to the house.
It's worth a trip to some of the other East Neuk villages, particularly Pittenweem , which still has a fishing fleet and a fishmarket during the week. During August the village hosts an excellent Arts Festival. Also Crail and St Monans are worth a visit.
St Andrews is a beautiful university town with much history and excellent cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. For kids, the best beach is the West Sands which is right alongside the Old Course. The aquarium is very good and a great rainy-day option. There is also a good swimming pool at the East Sands Leisure Centre. St Andrews Botanic gardens are lovely on a nice day.
For watersports enthusiasts, or beginners, there is a good watersports centre in Elie.
There are several outstanding beaches in the area: - Kingsbarns – a blue flag beach with lots of interesting rock pools for the children plus beautiful sand and views
- Tentsmuir Forest – a bit more of a drive but quite spectacular. A large nature reserve where the forest goes right to the beach. On the north side of the beach are seal colonies. Horse riding is available here, it is also excellent for cycling.
- Elie – a wide flat beach on which cricket is played on summer Sundays. The Ship Inn (with beer garden)overlooks the beach and offers excellent food and drink.
