A traditional stone property situated on the outskirts of the village of Ortakoy (near Kemer and Fethiye) in the beautiful countryside of the Mugla region. A fabulous opportunity to taste the real Turkey, away from the hustle of the busier tourist resorts but with access if required. Ideal for couples or families with children who want to get away from it all.
The brick built BBQ and large private swimming pool encourages you to enjoy the outdoor life. There is lots to do in the surrounding area or simply just relax.
The property benefits from thick stone walls, which keep it cool in the heat of the summer and warm in the colder winter months. It has a shaded terrace and plenty of sunbathing areas. The pool gets sunshine the whole day through.
The property is surrounded by fields and stunning mountains. The sunsets are fantastic to watch and the mountains turn red! With little light pollution, the stars at night are incredible and it's possible to sit outside with your favourite tipple watching regular shooting stars through the telescope provided!

It is possible to arrange for additional cleaning services during a two week stay, for a separate payment.
We have sought to make the property a home from home and equipped with all the necessities and, in addition, some extras, e.g. air-conditioning, a selection of CDs, DVDs, books and board games. Similarly, we have endeavored to make the property welcoming for people of all ages, however, the pool is a typical Turkish built one and does not have a shallow-end.
The property is rural, being on the outskirts of a small village, with Kemer being the nearest town, crica 10 km away. There is a dolmus service which some guests have enjoyed using, but for those who wish to explore the area, car hire is strongly recommended.
A Turkish mobile phone and mobile internet is available on request.
A detailed information pack is provided in the property, containing information about local sights, along with guide books, maps and a Turkish / English dictionary.

Outside of the property there is a large, brick built BBQ and a large patio area, which gets the sun all day long.
There is also a covered terrace with table and chairs for outdoor dining.
Sun loungers and parasols are provided. The private swimming pool is approx 45sq.m. During the cooler months the pool is decommissioned - please contact the owners for more information.
The property is sited in about half an acre of land and therefore has a large private garden. Part of the plot has been set aside as an orchard with fig, olive, orange, lemon and pomegranate trees being grown (they're still young).
There is a step up to the veranda and a couple of door steps in the property. Therefore the property is not suitable for those in wheelchairs. However, those with limited mobility may still find it suitable as its all on one floor.
It is a non-smoking property, as there is plenty of outside space, smokers are welcome so long as they do so in these areas and not inside the property.
Pets are not typically accepted. Please enquire with your specific situation.
A 40% deposit is required along with your completed booking form, which is sent via email, and terms and conditions. The balance is payable 8 weeks before departure along with a refundable security deposit of £150.
There is no particular change-over day. However, Mondays seem to be popular with charter airlines into Dalaman, whilst others operate a daily service.
The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
This is an ideal location for either just chilling, or for exploring the local area. The rural nature of the property lends itself to fishing, painting, photography and walking. It is also a great base for exploring, 20 min drive to Tlos and Yakapark, 30 min to Saklikent Gorge, 40 mins to Fethiye and the various activities such as boat trips. A number of beaches are within easy reach (Calis, Olu Deniz, Patara, to name just a handful). Many historical sites are also within easy reach. One end of the 500km Lycian Way (long distance footpath) starts at Ovacik. Further afield, Kas (and a trip across to Greece) or swim with the dolphins, or a day trip to Rhodes from Fethiye.
The Fethiye / Ortakoy area
The property is on the outskirts of Ortakoy (10 minute walk), a small village with a couple of convenience shops and a couple of tea houses (one serving kofte / kebabs with a very helpful owner). A market is held in the square every week (Wednesday) selling fresh fruit and veg.
Kemer is the nearest town 10km away with restaurants, food shops, (e.g butcher, baker, Tesko). 2 miles away is the tiny hamlet of Oren, famous for its trout restaurants overlooking the river. The drive to Kemer is through pine forests and views of the beautiful countryside. Kemer is a traditional Turkish town, having a town square with shops. It has 2 main restaurants - 1 in a riverside setting and the other elevated on the hillside overlooking the town. Both serve a variety of local dishes and international cuisine. There is a weekly market every Friday where local produce, clothes and souvenirs can be bought. Kemer offers the peaceful living of unspoilt Turkey with the added benefit of being within easy reach of many larger towns and attractions nearby. Other services in Kemer include pharmacies, post office, doctor, internet cafe, hospital, children’s play area, a bank / ATM, souvenir shops, florists and general stores.
Fethiye is a 40 mins drive and is a large and busy working town. It boasts a lovely harbour with great restaurants and cafe's where you can sit and watch the world go by or play a game of backgammon. Boat trips are plentiful with choice from quiet trips to party boats. The old town has some quaint shops and lanes as well as a Hammam (Turkish bath). Fethiye has two large supermarkets: Migros and Carrefour. There is also the famous Tuesday market.
The property is situated between what are claimed to be the two best beaches in Turkey, Olu Deniz and Patara. Olu Deniz is a natural lagoon and takes 40 min in the car. Patara beach is an 18km long sandy beach and takes around 45 min to drive. Other beaches within easy reach include: Calis, Gemiler Bay, Kaputas Bay and Katranci Bay. There is also a water park near to Fethiye for kids to enjoy.
There are a wide range of other sights: boat trips from Fethiye, Yakapark, Saklikent Gorge and a variety of archaeological sites - Telmessos (Fethiye Town), Letoon, Pinara, Patara, Xanthos and Cadianda.

The nearest airport is Dalaman, around 1hr 15 mins by road. Directions and a location map are provided. Antalya airport is about a 3 hour drive. Dalaman is served by both scheduled and charter airlines, including EasyJet, Turkish, Cyprus Turkish, British Airways (to Istanbul and then use a local airline), Pegasus, Thomas Cook, etc.
Due to the property's rural location, car hire is recommended.
There is local transport in the form of dolmus (buses). These are on a fairly regular basis to local towns such as Oren, Kemer and Fethiye (every 15 mins during summer, every 30 mins in winter).

Mountain View was the dream place for my wife & I as a honeymoon destination during a Turkey winter! We loved staying in the little cottage for days on end, as it just had everything we needed! One might think that having to hire a car to get to & enjoy the place is a bit much, but once there you realise that being away from it all is the best thing ever! It really was the perfect place to rest & relax. We would definitely choose Mountain View all over again if we had the choice... It really was a hidden treasure!
We are so glad that Mountain View provided you and your new wife with the peace and tranquility that you richly deserved after all the hard work you had both put into your wedding arrangements. We too think that the journey from the airport gives you time to relax and adjust to the calm and space of Ortakoy.
