The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
This region of Turkey is one of its most beautiful. It has everything to offer. If you prefer to be either inland or on the coast you will enjoy a holiday here. Guests return year after year.
To the surprise of many first time visitors, Turkey is green and mountainous throughout most of the country and The Turquoise Coast area in the south west is no exception. The name probably stems from the amazing colour of the Mediterranean and Aegean at this point.
The climate is benign - and whilst temperatures can reach 35C or more in July and August it is surprising how one adapts. Rain in the summer is infrequent.
The history of Turkey and The Ottoman Empire is fascinating - and so diverse that we can only suggest you do some reading before you come - or whilst here maybe - not that you will need much to aid relaxation - it is all too easy to unwind within hours of arriving.
If you want to look around the area, try going to the Saklikent Gorge (a good place to cool off a little) and the sights on the way. Or further affield the famous inland white cliffs at Pamukkale, ("cotton castle" in Turkish) a natural site in Denizli Province.
The Fethiye / Kaya Village area
Kaya is famous for its Greek ruins and its rich History. It is an unspoilt village and is a touristic attraction due to the Old Greek Ruins. Some of Greek stone houses have been carefully stored to provide atmospheric and peacefull holiday homes. It is a rural location but very close to the lively village of Hisaronu, a bustling village with plenty of restaurants & nightlife, the Fishing / Market town of Fethiye and 15 minutes by car to the beach of Oludeniz (famous for the blue lagoon). The village is surrounded by mountains and forests, wonderful for walks and picnics.Visitors can walk, cycle or horse-ride around the pathways and lanes of the valley pausing at the simple teahouses, restaurants or continuing the few kilometers down to Gemiler Beach.
Activities like diving, sailing, paragliding, jeep safari, horse&camel riding, trekking and lots of others are possible in the area.

Have been travelling to Turkey for over ten years and can honestly say that Jasmine Villa not only exceeded my initial expectations, it totally blew me away! The villa itself is decorated beautifully... more |

Positives - very private and spacious, lovely village, friendly locals, fantastic restaurants all within walking distance, chilled (in the day). Negatives - very limited hot water supply, no air con in upstairs area, upstairs bathroom had been all glassed in and so unbearable in the August sunshine, was just like a greenhouse but in the heavy downpour of rain we had the water poured in, the shower over the bath is unusable unless your are below 4foot tall! The restaurant next door can be extremely noisy at times with live music going on until the early hours but food is delicious! We spotted a number of bees around the pool, didn't bother us after a day or so, but if you have younger children it might make life difficult. Final moan is that we were dropped at the villa by taxi and we got the impression we were not expected - no one met us as agreed, nothing in the fridge but a tin of mouldy tomatoes, not even a bottle of water! So, we can only suggest if you are looking at booking this villa you maybe ask if improvements have been made Response: A reply from the maintenance company: More air conditioning has now been fitted There is now a new window in upstairs jacuzzi bathroom The water pressure problem has been sorted and there is plenty of hot water This year drinking water will be left at the property as standard. Welcome hampers available on request. Cleaners have been reminded to remove any perishable foods. |
