The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

This region of Turkey is one of its most beautiful. It has everything to offer. If you prefer to be either inland or on the coast you will enjoy a holiday here. Guests return year after year.
To the surprise of many first time visitors, Turkey is green and mountainous throughout most of the country and The Turquoise Coast area in the south west is no exception. The name probably stems from the amazing colour of the Mediterranean and Aegean at this point.
The climate is benign - and whilst temperatures can reach 35C or more in July and August it is surprising how one adapts. Rain in the summer is infrequent.
The history of Turkey and The Ottoman Empire is fascinating - and so diverse that we can only suggest you do some reading before you come - or whilst here maybe - not that you will need much to aid relaxation - it is all too easy to unwind within hours of arriving.
If you want to look around the area, try going to the Saklikent Gorge (a good place to cool off a little) and the sights on the way. Or further affield the famous inland white cliffs at Pamukkale, ("cotton castle" in Turkish) a natural site in Denizli Province.
The Fethiye / Kaya Village area
Kaya is famous for its Greek ruins and its rich History. It is an unspoilt village and is a touristic attraction due to the Old Greek Ruins. Some of Greek stone houses have been carefully stored to provide atmospheric and peacefull holiday homes. It is a rural location but very close to the lively village of Hisaronu, a bustling village with plenty of restaurants & nightlife, the Fishing / Market town of Fethiye and 15 minutes by car to the beach of Oludeniz (famous for the blue lagoon). The village is surrounded by mountains and forests, wonderful for walks and picnics.Visitors can walk, cycle or horse-ride around the pathways and lanes of the valley pausing at the simple teahouses, restaurants or continuing the few kilometers down to Gemiler Beach.
Activities like diving, sailing, paragliding, jeep safari, horse&camel riding, trekking and lots of others are possible in the area.

Guestbook for Jasmine Villa
'Lovely holiday. Perfect peaceful location. Enjoyed village life; everyone friendly & helpful. Recommend Oyuktepe Peninsula (to the west of Fethiye) and Kuleli Beach along there. Also drive south of Oludeniz past Kidrak Bay&Butterfly Valley. Kidrak Bay is lovely beach..Buy peaches from local seller and try figs from the tree at the pool. Hope everyone enjoys their holiday as much as we did. Robert&Liz Warner. Aug 2010'
