Calis Beach is 45km from Dalaman Airport. The journey time is approximately 45 minutes.

Leave the airport (driving on the right hand side!) and follow the signs for Fethiye/Olu Deniz.

Drive along a straight road, then you will come to a junction signed Fethiye, turn right. Keep driving along this road. Turn right again at the end (petrol station on left).

Keep driving along this road. You will then come to the entrance for the Gocek Tunnel. This is quicker than the mountain route ahead. Journey time through the tunnel is approximately one minute and it cuts out the hairpin bends and shear drops on the mountain route. It also shortens your journey time by 15 minutes.

After coming out of the Gocek Tunnel, drive straight on past Gocek town on your right hand side.

Keep driving straight for approximately 20km. Then follow the signs for Calis Beach

Breath taking beautiful base around the resort of Fethiye in the heart of ancient Lycia, the region offers an amazing range of historical building and site, visit old town Kaya an old Greek town, you will be sure to find attractions to cater for all tastes and budgets.

Fethiye

Fethiye, known as Telmessos in the antique period, is the most important city of Lycia - one of the oldest. Anatolian civilizations-at the western borderline with caria.

Despite lack of information regarding its establishment, it is stated in the available documents that the history of the city reaches for back to 5th century B:C:A:

Lycia legend explains the source of the name Telmessos as follows: "God Apollon falls in love with the youngest daughter of the King of Finike (phoenike) Agenor. He disguises himself as a small dog and thus gains love of the shy, withdrawn daughter. They name their son Telmessos ". The city, with its name believed to have come from that of Telmessos - son of god Apollon, from the first state of the persians after being invaded by the persian king harpagos in 547 B.C. along with all other lycian and carian cities.

At the northern end of Fethiye bay is the harbour of Gocek. The village has grown around the extensive yacht marina and is a great place to visit and watch the rich at play! Just to the south of Fethiye is the popular resort of Olu Deniz with its stunning lagoon and beach... probably one of the worlds most photographed beauty spots. Adrenline junkies can paraglide from the top of Mount Babadag down onto the beach at Olu Deniz to enjoy the breath-taking scenary. Why not stop off en-route in the hills at Hisaronu or Ovacik for a bite to eat as it is generally cooler up here on hot days.

Other interesting places/ things to do in the area to visit include:

- Climbing up to the Lycian Rock Tombs in Fethiye

- Exploring the Ancient ghost village of Kayakoy

- A boat trip around the 12 Islands or to Butterfly Valley

- A jeep safari to Patara Beach

- A day return on the fast ferry from Fethiye - Rhodes, Greece so you can experience 2 countries in 1 holiday!

More excursions which can be organised from Calis include visiting the:

- Mud baths at Dalyan and the ruins of Caunos

- Beautiful gorge of Saklikent and the ruins of Tlos

- Maginificent ancient city and wonders of Ephesus
