● Turkey is one of the top 12 travel destinations in the world.
● Culture & Art: Turkey's history of human habitation goes back 25,000 years. Some of the earliest-known human communities are here. Hittites, Phrygians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders, Seljuks, Mongols, Ottomans and others have all left their works of art and culture in what is now the Turkish homeland. Modern Turkey has all this—and more mobile phones than you've ever seen in one place before.
● Special-Interest Activities: With nearly 8400 km (5200 mi) of coastline, water sports and yachting are big favourites. Hiking, white-water rafting and paragliding.

● Saklikent
High in the mountains above Fethiye a rushing torrent cuts a narrow gorge through the mountains, creating Saklikent Canyon 44 km south of Fethiye.
A cool refuge on hot summer days, Saklikent is a favourite picnic spot, with rustic restaurants serving delectable fresh trout. You can also visit the old fashioned carpet and kilim weavers
The Fethiye / Calis Beach area
● Fethiye
From ancient port to a relaxing beach side, Fethiye provides the perfect base for exploring the beautiful nature and historic sites. Fethiye lies on a semicircular bay protected by a ring of 12 islands
The popular resort Fethiye, hosts an important marina at the head of a beautiful bay strewn with islands. A hill crowned by the ruins of the crusader fortress built by the Knights of Rhodes overlooks the port.
Above the town , (called Telmessos in antiquity), numerous Lycian rock tombs, reproducing the
facades of ancient buildings, were cut into the cliff face.
The road to Fethiye winds up and down hills through a heavily forested region that offers occasional glimpses of the sea and an islet or two basking in total seclusion.
Calis Beach (famous for its glorious sunsets) is a lively town without being spoilt by tourism and there is an abundance of restaurants to choose from, catering for every taste. Take a trip to Fethiye on a water taxi and if you ever tire of the pool and the beach, have a fun day out at the Aqua Park.
If your idea of a holiday is lazing in the sun on a beach or by the pool, then Calis Beach is for you. The shingle beach stretches for 4 km with hotels, bars and restaurants on the beach front road which runs along it. The atmosphere is very informal and relaxed here, making it ideal for sun-worshippers and family holidays. If you want to spend some livelier hours, than take a dolmus ride to nearby Fethiye, with its colourful harbour, shops, and nightlife.
● The Gulf of Göcek and its friendly marina is one of the Mediterranean's best sailing spots. Hisaronu, at the skirts of Mount Babadag-Oludeniz, is a world-wide popular paragliding centre.
● Dalyan (Caunos)
The maze of channels is easily explored by boat as you immerse yourself in this tranquil dream world. Restaurants which line the waterways specialize in delicious fresh fish.
Magnificent tombs were carved into the rock high on the cliff face, at a bend in the river, above the fascinating ancient harbour of city Caunos. The Dalyan Delta, with the long, golden, sandy Iztuzu beach at its mouth, is a nature conservation area and a refuge for sea turtles (Caretta caretta) and blue crabs.

Never been to turkey before, let alone Fethiye so I was in the dark about where to stay. I looked at lots of hotels and villas before we found this one. So happy that we did. Top quality villa with loads of space and home comforts. While we were in fethiye and Calis, we saw several hotels and villas that we'd looked at on the web and they were much worse in the flesh. Not the case with this villa which is as good as it looks. Bonus is that the owner is a UK resident, which adds a layer of protection to the transaction. Very good service firm looks after the villa and is based nearby. Location is very good, quiet and safe. easy walk along the prom to Fethiye for dinner or 50p bus ride into Calis if you want to watch football and read the Sun newspaper with your chips. |

Guestbook for Sharma, Fethiye Bay Villas
Hi Mark
Wow; why has it taken so long to find such a fantastically located, yet quiet Villa? A peaceful 25 minute stroll along the promenade to Fethiye (10 mins by bus) or 10 minutes by bus the other way to Calis.
And when the promenade extension is finished later in the year, I would imagine it will also be nice walk up to there. OR, from Fethiye you are within 30 minutes (by bus) of Olu Deniz and Hisaranu. And a supermaket only 2 minutes walk.
Personally we loved Fethiye, it having more of a local feel than touristy. The wide choice to eat; from the atmosphere of the fish market and Megri's in the old town to the numerous restaurants and cafés on the promenade into Fethiye. All within a short distance from the Villa.
Mark, I have to also say that Margo was brilliant. Always there to offer local advice if asked, but without being overpowering.
Already given your website details to someone and will certainly recommend you to any of our friends interested in Turkey.
We will certainly be going back in the future. Just hope they don't build on that piece of waste ground next to the compound. It not only allowed for a lovely view of the bay, but also, when sitting around the pool, a much appreciated sea breeze.
Finally; who is the photographer? Some great shots on the walls..................
Thanks
Joy and Mike

We had a great time at Sharma Villa. The facilities in the villa are excellent - everything very modern, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning came in very handy as it was a particularly hot week whilst we were there.
We loved the fact that we could just step out of the villa into the pool whenever we liked and had a choice of sun or shade from either of the two patios.
The neighbours were very friendly and gave us lots of good tips for shopping and visits out.
There local supermarket was very handy as we could just walk over in a couple of
minutes to collect essentials.
We also found both the blue bus and dolmus service extremely cheap and easy to use. Our favourite mode of
transport was the water taxi between Chalis Beach and Fethiye which enabled us to hop between the two and enjoy the breeze on the bay at the same time.
Overall it was a lovely villa and we enjoyed staying there very much.
Is there anything you feel we should improve?
Nothing
Is there anything you felt we did particularly well?
Standard of cleanliness
Please help us by mentioning any maintenance or repairs we need to do
Nothing that we noticed

Dear Mark,
We got back from Turkey at 5.00 am today having had the holiday every bit as good as we would have hoped for.
Your villa is lovely and just what we needed. We made huge use of the pool, and loved sitting catching the breeze. One of the bedrooms used the airconditioning,a little, but we others just enjoyed the warmth!
We took the dolmus to the villages around in the hills which we loved, and had 2 "beach days" one of which we hired a boat for our daughter's 21st. A memorable day. We even went to the hamman!
We happily drank the tap water everywhere to no ill effect from any of us! Not that bottle water was expensive, just it was so convenient to be able to drink it from the tap. The house was delightfully clean, Ray attended the pool each day and we got to know Waggsie.
The supermarket was so useful as a landmark for us, apart from being incredibly handy. We had a really lovely holiday.
Thank you so much for all the info on your website. We lacked for nothing...............and we didn't have to cook once!
We just hope you have as much fun as we did when you next return. with thanks from us all for sharing your villa.
