The South East Ireland / County Wexford region
Hookless Village is located in the south east corner of Ireland, on the Hook Peninsula overlooking the Saltee Islands and the Hook Head Lighthouse. The remote, wild, open landscape is home to numerous beaches and has plenty of activities in the surrounding area. It lies between the large town of Wexford - easily accessed by car, and Waterford - accessible by ferry accross the lovely Passage East waterway. The area is ideal for walking, cycling, horse riding or just for lazing about on the beach. The Hook Lighthouse is the oldest in Europe and is a favourite tourist attraction, with guided tours available daily. Dunbrody Abbey and Maze is nearby, Duncannon Fort, Tintern Abbey, JFK Park and Arboretum, and the Irish National Heritage Park in Ferrycarrig would delight anyone looking to visit places of historical interest.
Fethard-On-Sea / Hook Peninsula area
The beautiful and relatively private Sandeel beach, only 5 mins walk away, with 14 other beaches within a short drive. The cliffs surrounding the Hook Lighthouse provide lots of scope for walking and the rock pools are a delight for young and old alike. The Hook Sub-Aqua Club is based in nearby Slade and enthusiasts will love the Hook area for its exceptionally clear waters and the diversity of wrecks - further information available from the club at tel. + 353 86 8327561.The Dunbrody Historic Emigrant Ship in New Ross is a must for anyone interested in emigration from Ireland and visitors can access a huge database of emigrants who sailed from Ireland in the nineteenth century. Golf is available at New Ross, Waterford, Wexford and Rosslare. Details can be found on the internet. Pub grub is available in various local pubs and for the more discerning diner there are several excellent restaurants within easy access.
