Here I offer you my very comfortable home, restored from original Massriya of many centuries ago. I have called it LeManoir because, for me, coming home from a busy day/evening at my Guesthouse, Dar el Hana, it feels like my "Country Home" my refuge. Decorated in Moroccan style, with a touch of modernity, the kitchen is fully modern with electric stove and gas cooktop, marble bench tops etc. Bright and airy, it is a small house on 3 levels: laundry/office on Ground, with a separate toilet; Bathroom and bedroom on 1st floor: kitchen and Salon on 2nd floor; and furnished terrace with garden on 3rd level, with adjustable shading/windbreaks, and rain cover. Great view from Terrace to Blue Gate and Medersa Bouanania and you are ready to immerse yourself in this amazing medina.
We are offering a self-catering experience, further enhanced by proximity to local markets where the freshest produce is at your fingertips, for unbelievable prices. Nearby, begins the journey of architectural and hand crafted wonders for your own discovery, or we can offer you a highly educated and entertaining Guide who you can call upon if you need specialised knowledge of sufi music or cultural pursuits; or specific shopping. If you wish to go on a day trip outside Fes, or excursions to other cities etc, we can also arrange; AND the ultimate Moroccan home cooking experience, Fatima can cook for you, delivered to you by our trusted employee, Ismail Ben. Whatever you want, we can help - stay a week, or a month! Cafe Clock has cooking classes and calligraphy courses, and learn Arabic at the American School of Language. Included is fully effective WiFi throughout the house and the terrace.

Although this is essentially a one bedroom house, it is possible to have a third person/child sleep comfortably on the Salon couch upstairs. We do have a baby cot upon request.
We do provide you, free of charge, with WiFi
There is reverse cycle air-conditioning in the bedroom and also in the Salon, and an extra small electric heater and fans for the Summer. The Goose down duvets and under-duvet make for extra comfort, and good bed side lighting makes reading in bed a delight!

The terrace is a magnificent feature of this house - allowing for peaceful viewing of your surrounds and of simply Being. It is where I enjoy most meals and at night take out the deck chairs and contemplate the stars....
Parking is at Bab Boujloud car park where, for a small charge of 25-30DH per night, you will have secure parking.
Longer term parking can be for a negotiated lower price.
To be on the terrace at the Call to Prayer is to experience it to the full - all the Mosques join in, and the cacophony of sound to be remembered always.
I ask that, in order not to offend my neighbours, alcoholic drinks are enjoyed in moderation...but please do enjoy!!
Perfect for a couple or for a single person to rent for short or longer terms.
A child will also be comfortable, or a close friend to stay in the Salon.
As we have the Guesthouse nearby, we are used to providing additional services to Guests, so please ask if you need anything.
Payment will be via PayPal with any additional service payments to be made in Dirhams to Dar El Hana staff.
I wish no smoking in the house. Smoking is permitted ON the Terrace ONLY, thanking you.
The Fes-Boulemane Region
This lovely Meseriya (small house) is located within the Ancient Medina of Fes, close to the Bab Boujloud and the markets.
1200 years old, this medina is the largest Medina in the Islamic world, and protected as a World Heritage area.
Little has changed in 100s of years, and the joy is to witness the Artisans of old, still working in their Foundouks, following traditional methods and producing the mosaics and zellige we love so well.
Architectural lovers and photographers alike, are captivated by the buildings, some restored so well and Islamic features which surround you as you stroll along the Talaa K'Bira, main street off which you will be living, and follow this street down into the basin which is the medina nestled within the valley, down to the middle of the medina to the Karouine Mosque and University, said to be one of the first universities in the world. Clutch your sprig of mint to your nose as you view the tanneries, famous in Fes and still dyed and tanned by amazingly ancient and skilled methods..challenging to the nose!
Much more pleasing to the nose are the spice markets and the smell of meat BBQs along the markets near Medersa Bouanania just a 2 min walk from Le Manoir.
Gather your choice of Moroccan breads, cream cheese, jams and figs and return to your private terrace to enjoy your breakfast overlooking this fascinating Medina..witness the locals go about their daily lives..all around you
Major sight seeing and restaurants are all around you. The main Blue Gate, or Bab Boujloud - you will still see the huge gates which used to be closed each evening. Today, still, some such gates, deep in the Medina around the Mausoleum will be closed each evening at 9pm, and from 12 midday on Fridays.
Witness Islam in its real context - the Call to Prayer is especially wonderful from one's terrace, early morning to last call 1 hr past sunset.
Sample to local foods, some good restaurants so inexpensive - do your own cooking with the ingredients and spices bought at the market...attend a Cooking class at Cafe Clock a block away! and do not miss the Sunday Concerts 6pm at Cafe Clock for some local music and dancing.

"Excellent Accomodations For My Family!"
I would highly recommend Le Manoir to anyone visiting the medina for stay. The house has a very calming effect after being out for the day and is very comfortable and feels like a home. My two daughters were with me who are 8 and 5 yrs old and they had ample space to do their activities and if they wanted to play, the terrace provided ample space and it was very safe.
The wifi set-up saved alot of time in having to go to a cafe for connections and made communications very easy .The satellite TV was an added bonus of being able to keep up on current events and if I just wanted to watch a movie to unwind at the end of the evening, it was available.
The location was ideal and close to everything that I needed in medina. I would also like to give a word of thanks to the manager, she was just a phone call away with any questions that arose and was very helpful throughout my stay.

We stayed in this apartment at the end of December 2012 and have nothing but praise for it. The apartment is cosy and decorated very tastefully. The terasse is great with lots of sun in the winter, but there's also a shaded place for warmer times of the year. Ben and Arantxa have been very helpful and friendly as well. We can definitely recommend the place to others!
