Jacuzzi Room - This double room is cool as it is situated on the ground floor and has the added benefit of a sunken jacuzzi in the bathroom.
Garden Room – This double, en-suite room was newly completed in spring 2013; it is very private, you enter from its own stairway and it overlooks the garden; it is air conditioned. It is possible to have an extra bed in this room.
Double en-suite - This beautiful double en-suite room is situated on the first floor overlooking the plunge pool, it benefits from air conditioning in the summer months.
Double room - This double room is cozy and comfortable and has air conditioning. There is a bathroom two steps away and whilst this is not “technically” en-suite all other bedrooms in the riad have their own bathrooms so it tends to be used exclusively by people staying in the double room.

The Fes region
Fes or Fez is the second largest city of Morocco, following Casablanca, with a population of approximately 1 million (2010). It is the capital of the Fès-Boulemane region.
The former capital, is one of the country's four "imperial cities," the others being Rabat, Marrakech and Meknes. It comprises three distinct parts, Fes el Bali (the old, walled city or medina), Fes-Jdid (new Fes, home of the Mellah) and the Ville Nouvelle (the French-created, newest section of Fes).
Fes el Bali is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its medina, the larger of the two medinas of Fes, is believed to be the world's largest contiguous car-free urban area. The University of Al-Karaouine, founded in AD 859, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world. It has been called the "Mecca of the West" and the "Athens of Africa".
Traditional crafts are still widely practiced in the Medina. Goods are transported through its narrow streets on donkeys, mules and handcarts much as they were hundreds of years ago.
Riad Medina is situated within the walls of the ancient city which the world famous tannery is within 5 minutes walk and all other tourist attractions eg. Bab Boujloud (The Blue Gate) within a gentle stroll.

Thank you for your comments.
Regarding the heating .....our house is a traditional riad and as such is built to keep the heat our rather than in (as is the case with all traditional houses). There is no central heated however …..we do have portable electric heaters which keep the rooms at a comfortable temperature, these are available for guest to use. We would recommend that during the winter, guests take extra clothing to keep them warm when moving outside.
The Jacuzzi Room is one of our most popular rooms and is used by many guests throughout the year; humidity of the hot water in the sunken bath does cause the decoration to deteriorate more quickly than some of our other rooms. We recognise this and we have a "rolling" programme of renovation. This room is now closed to guests to allow us to completely redecorate. It will be re-opened at the end of February for our guests to enjoy during 2014.

"A quiet but tired retreat from the Fez medina"

Thank you for your kind comments about the staff, they really do try to make our guests feel welcome.
Riads are built with small windows to reduce the scorching summertime heat and therefore they do limited the natural light within the rooms; we try to compensate by having ample lamps to provide additional artificial light.
Regarding the bathrooms ..... I stayed in the Jacuzzi room myself two days after you departed and, I do concur with your comments. Due to the age of the Riad (over 400 years old) it is in need of constant tlc. We do have a "rolling programme" of refurbishments and .....I'm please to say that the bathroom has already been scheduled for redecoration during winter 2013.

Thank you for your kind comments about the riad. My husband is so jealous with regard to you motor biking around Morocco, it is one of his dreams but he hasn't yet managed to organise anything. Maybe we will see you next year!
