Casa Azure offers everything you would expect from a great villa. It has a fantastic position in a quiet location and is only a 5 min walk to the beach or 3 min walk through the cobbled streets to the restaurants in the village square. The spacious and modern villa is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The living, dining and all bedrooms having air conditioning. WiFi is available throughout the villa, there is a 40"plasma SAT TV with DVD, even the bedrooms have ipod docks. We'd like to think that we've thought of everything. The villa has the luxury of its own private pool and pool loungers so that you can soak up the Algarvean sun. Should you wish to float on a lilo then you won't have to buy one as we supply those and a host of other pool toys as well! Whilst there is ample room to dine inside there is al fresco dining for eight by the pool. Our guests always comment on how much they enjoy BBQ fresh fish bought locally and relaxing underneath the stars.

The Algarve region

Warm sandy beaches sheltered by beautiful cliffs with their famous rock formations combine with a wonderful sunny climate to gift the Algarve a world-renowned reputation. Whether you are looking for a summer family holiday, a winter retreat or a romantic couples break, the Algarve has it all.

The Algarve boasts a fantastic year round climate, with over 3000 hours of sunshine a year on average, that's more than California! It even manages to stay rain free for 315 days and when it does rain the coastal area's only average 2 inches a year.

The proximity of the Mediterranean Sea greatly influences the Algarvian climate. Despite being on the Atlantic coast, the Algarve has a Mediterranean-like climate with mild winters and long hot summers. The maximum temperatures in the Algarve fluctuate between 15°C and 35 °C, with the temperature never falling below zero in the winter months.

Summer

June to September tend to be the hottest months and the chances of rain are almost zero. June and September temperatures are usually around the mid 20's in the shade, rising to 30°C plus in the sun. July and August are the warmest months with shade temperatures that rarely drop below 30°C and could be as high as 40 in the sun. The Algarve often has the benefit of a sea breeze, and whilst the temperatures can be quite high it never seems to feel that hot with a breeze on the beach

Autumn

October and November are usually lovely months being just a little cooler than the height of summer, but with temperatures in the low to mid 20's in the shade and from 20°C to 30°C in the sun. It's still very warm. It's not at all unusual to spot people sunbathing on the algarve beaches in the Autumn.

Winter

December to February are normally the coolest months of the year, air temperatures average between 9°C and 16°C but temperatures in the sun can be the low 20's. Night temperatures tend to drop to between 4°C and 6°C and it does rain from time to time, but on the whole it's like Spring in the English countryside. In January and February the almond trees can be seen in blossom and the wild flowers are starting to appear.

Spring

Algarvian temperatures in March and April normally rise to around 18°C to 20°C in the shade and it's not unusual to see temperatures in the sun in between the mid 20's up as high as 30°C. May can be mistaken for summer with temperatures in the sun around 28°C and low 20's in the shade. This time of year sees the countryside burst into bloom with the cliff tops in the western Algarve being particularly beautiful.

Ferragudo

Ferragudo is one of the most attractive traditional fishing villages on the Algarve. Village life still revolves around the quayside square with its narrow cobbled streets and steps, meandering up from the old quay to the summit and the church. During the summer months the square is decorated with garlands, fairy lights and a stage where live acts and bands perform at the weekends and where locals young and old come out to dance, chat and people watch.

Ferragudo still retains a truly Algarvian feel which is complemented with excellent beaches and a local quay, this small and quiet village is also very well catered for. From great restaurants and beaches to local supermarkets, bakers, pharmacy, newsagents and banks/ATMs.

Its close proximity to other well known areas of the Algarve make it ideal for exploring and sightseeing. A few minutes drive or water taxi, will bring you to the bustling town of Portimao, the second largest town and port famous for its sardines; championship golf courses; stunning mountains and the Moorish castle and walled town of Silves.
