3 Place des Arbres
About the home
The one-bedroom apartment is situated on the ground floor of a former parsonage (presbytère) in the heart of of a small, beautiful town in the stunning department of La Creuse.
The town is gateway to the Plateau de Millevache and is part of the "French lake district" and so it is a haven for walkers, anglers, people who enjoy water sports and other activities.
The living room has a very comfortable 3-seater sofa, which can be opened out for use as a second bed, and an armchair. The whole room is light, airy and bright. The kitchen has everything you should need, including microwave, toaster, kettle, etc. The breakfast bar is the perfect place to eat at any time of the day, or to hang out and play games, or just have a chat over a glass of wine (or three). The bedroom is comfortable and spacious enough for an armchair, should you want to sit by the window and read. The property has a shower room, with toilet and sink.

The Limousin / Auvergne / Creuse region

La Creuse is in the Limousin Region, boardering on the Auvergne. In fact Felletin is only an hours drive from the Puy de Domes, a beautiful range of extint volcanoes.
Limousin is a relatively undiscovered part of France. This means it is not over run by tourists even in the holiday months.
Although in the middle of France there are beaches here! The area is known as France's "Lake District" and there are many lakes which have beaches in the area. The biggest lake, Lac de Vassivière, is 1000 hectares and has watersports, boat trips and fishing available. There is an arts centre on the island in the centre of the lake (which you can reach by way of a long bridge, either by walking or catching a ride on the "train" for a small fee). Here in the summer you will also find concerts, and Fêtes
Felletin is the gateway to the Plateau de Millevache, which (although there are lots of cows around!) means thousand springs, rather than thousand cows. It is this plateau which provides Felletin with the Eau de Source which makes the water from the tap just as good (better I would say!) than bottled water.
This part of France has proper distinct seasons, and is beautiful in all of them. Because of all the trees in the area Autumn is particularly stunning.
There are plenty of places to fish (even night carp fishing) and if golf is your bag, the golf course at Bourganeuf (30mins away) is a good one. There are also courses near the Lac de Vassivière and in the Auvergne in the direction of Clermont Ferrand.
The Felletin area
Felletin is somewhere between a large village and a small town. It has about 7 bars, and a number of places to eat, including a pizzeria. There are lots of boulangeries and patisseries in the town – each one bakes bread and croissants differently so you will have fun discovering which is your favourite.
Felletin was (like its more famous neighbour Aubusson) a major manufacturer of carpets and tapestries. It was also home to a Diamond processing plant. These days the tapestry manufacture continues and, although the diamond processing has ceased, you can still visit the building and see how it was done.
The town is home to many Fêtes and special days. The biggest is the Folklore du Monde, which is a music and dance festival, with participants from around the world. Much of this is free, with the groups performing in the town square.
Every Friday there is a market which is well known in the area. Here you can buy pretty much everything, including locally produced cheese, vegetables and even beer brewed in the town at a tiny micro brewery.
Aubusson (9km away and reachable by bus if you don't want to drive) has many places to visit if you want to find out more about Tapestry manufacture. It also has night clubs, lots of bars and places to eat, a cinema and a swimming pool.
