Obofix (house)

Home description

300 yards from the beach in a quiet enclosure, Obofix is protected from the wind and humidity coming from the sea. The house was originally an annex to the hotel « Le Clos Normand » and the spacious 500 ft² salon was a dining room. With two bedrooms it comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. The numerous windows looking on to the South facing garden stream in light. All this makes the cottage a really relaxing place to unwind from the stress of a busy year.

The Normandy / Seine-Maritime region

The Côte d'Albâtre is physically like Sussex but without all the people! It’s easy to find your own space, on the beach, walking or biking through the wooded hills behind the coast and visiting the many historic buildings hidden away in the valleys.

At the same time, in village and town, you will find excellent places to eat some of the finest French cuisine starting with the excellent Relais des Dalles just up the road. Obofix is a great base to explore from

Fecamp / Les Petites Dalles area

Les Petites Dalles is perhaps the most harmonious village on the Normandy coast. Most of the houses date from the late Victorian period when, with the advent of the steam train, the resort was frequented by personalities such as Sissi, Empress of Austria, Camille Pissaro and Claude Monet (see below).

Today Les Petites Dalles remains unspoilt and off the tourist route, a perfect place for a family holiday though close to the lively towns of Fécamp and St Valéry en Caux

Pebbles cover the upper beach with a sand layer exposed at low tide. The chalk cliffs give the water an unusual milky green colour that charms even on a grey day.

Lying in a dell between high cliffs the village is protected from the wind – as you will see from the sumptuous vegetation.

How to get there

A car is nearly essential but it’s also possible to take the train to Yvetot (Paris – Le Havre line) and rent from Avis at the station.

Unless agreed otherwise you will generally pick up the keys from Angélique in the neighbouring village of St Martin aux Buneaux

Most access routes pass through Fauville-en-Caux (coming off the motorways A29 Lille – Le Havre or A13, Paris – Caen and following the direction Fécamp). Follow the road for about another 4 miles (7km) and then turn right to Valmont. Go through Valmont (“toutes directions”) and turn right at the end of the town for Sassetot where you will see Saint Martin and Les Petites Dalles signposted
