The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
The Var is probably what everyone dreams of when they think of the South of France. There are fields of lavender, olive groves, vineyards, pretty medieval villages with terracotta roof-tops, bustling markets and the Mediterranean sea. The landscape is covered with vineyards and fields of lavender.
Historically, the area grew flowers for the perfume industry. The old town of Grasse, a half hour drive away, still produces perfume and has several factories to visit.
The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate of long hot summers and short mild winters.
The 'canton' of Fayence has 5 beautiful medieval hilltop villages with sweeping views over the Esterel hills towards the coast. Each village is unique in character with narrow winding lanes ideal for exploring.
To the north are National parks and the Gorges de Verdon, the deepest canyon in Europe offering exceptional views and water activities. Lac St. Cassien is close by, ideal for families interested in water sports or fishing.
The museums and art galleries of the Cote D’Azur are all within easy driving distances of Seillans as are many interesting towns and villages of the Bouches du Rhone, the Var and Alpes Maritime.
Ski slopes are within an hours drive.
Seillans is a beautiful small perched medieval village nestled into a hill overlooking the Esterel mountains on the coast. It is truly a jewel and was voted one of the prettiest villages in France. The winding lanes are perfect for exploring and the local shops, restaurants and bar are within a seven minute flat walk from La Bannette.
You can horse ride, play tennis, hike, swim, participate in all kinds of water sports, go fishing, play golf, shop or just relax. There are various activities scheduled for all the villages during the year including art exhibitions, musical evenings, tastings and local celebrations.
The neighbouring village of Fayence is a renowned gliding centre and provides all essential services including an open air market three times a week. The area around Seillans is perfect for walking and cycling. The Four Seasons Terre Blanche resort is nearby with 2 world class golf courses and spa.
