The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

The Cote d'Azur stretches along the warmest coastline of France from Provence to the Italian border. The beaches from pebble to fine sand are well maintained and some 'private' offer extra facilities, bars and restaurants for a whole days comfortable seaside lounging!

Gastronomy is at its best catering for some of the most prestigious clients but offering many choices of restaurant all along the coast. The bustling cities of Cannes and Nice contrast to the small and still authentic perched villages on the hilltops, and other smaller towns offer quiet corners with dotted villas and yet still most interesting town centres alive with artistic history and tradition.

Further north the terraced hillsides lead up into cooler parts and the Alps can be seen towering above. Hiking and walking as well as many watersports on the lakes will be amongst activities here away from the busier coasts.

The Fayence / Montauroux area

St Cassien lake. 5 km. Beautiful lake with clean water and small beaches, and lovely place for windsurfing and other watersports. Ideal to cool off on a hot day!
Fayence. 10 km. Much visited hill top fortified village, between sea and mountains and surrounded by picturesque Provencal countryside. Also renowned for its gliding centre, often considered the best in Europe.
Seillans. 15 km. Delightful hill top village and one of the most beautiful villages in France. Its medieval centre with a maze of narrow cobbled streets, shaded squares and ancient fountains overlooks a wonderful countryside. The village also boasts a castle and lovely church. Home to many artists.
Grasse. 22 km. Fascinating historic town and world's perfume capital. Explore the delightful narrow streets or go on one of the factory tours offered by some of the most famous perfume houses.

Golf du Domaine de Terre Blanche, Tourrettes. 8 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 6616m. One of the most beautiful golf courses in Europe, designed to host professional tournaments and featuring long par 4s. Magnificent views of the hillside villages and oak forests.
Les Grottes de St Cézaire, St Cézaire sur Siagne. 17 km. Discovered in 1890 by a local farmer whilst working his land. Full of fantastic formations including draperies, stalactites and stalagmites. Spectacular underground landscapes.
Aqualand, Fréjus. 30 km. Waterpark. Fantastic waterpark with a great number of water rides for the whole family, including the largest wave pool in Europe and the huge Twin-Twister water slide. Not for the faint hearted!
Parc Zoologique, Fréjus. 30 km. Animal park. Enjoy a walk or drive through this 20 hectare park where you will discover over 130 animal species from all 5 continents, ranging from the smallest, the Cotton Top Tamarin to the biggest, the Asian Elephant.

FURTHER AFIELD:
Théoule sur Mer. 30 km. Charming seaside resort nestling in a small cove at the foot of the Estérel mountain with red rocky inlets and beautiful sandy beaches shaded by exotic palm trees and majestic parasol pines.
Cannes. 35 km. Beachside resort with its large promenade, chic boutiques, restaurants, bars, shops and festivals including the famous Cannes film festival in May each year. A walk along the “Croisette”, harbour and sandy beaches is a must.
Fréjus. 35 km. Seaside resort, ancient military port and Roman city, with a rich and impressive historical and architectural heritage. Some stunning scattered Roman remains can still be seen including one of the largest amphitheatres from Gallic times and a Roman theatre still in use for summer events.
Gorges du Verdon. 65 km. Europe’s largest river canyon and one of France’s greatest natural wonder with twisting narrow roads, dramatic scenery, awesome views but also lofty little villages and chapels clinging to the rocks. THE place for climbing, rafting, canyoning, kayaking...
