The cottage is well furnished . The main bedroom has an antique French bed. For more information about the history of the chateau try a google search chateau gros tison.

The Northern France / Nord-Pas-de-Calais region

The advantage of this area is the short drive time from Calais, Tunnel , Boulogne, and the varied facilities and places to visit. Approx 30 minutes to the sandy beaches, under an hour to the Somme estuary.
The Fauquembergues / Thiembronne area
The Fauquembergues / Aa valley area is relatively unaffected by tourism and this is relected in the prices charged by the restaurants and visitor attractions. For children, Dennlys Park amusement park, Nausicaa marine park, boatrides on the St Omer canal or in the Marais , the Picasso train or the unusual Rando-Rail from Lumbres. Fauquembergues , a 6 minute drive, has supermarkets and other shops, open market, restaurants and bars, a 13th century church. La Coupole and Eperlecques, the 2 major WW2 rocket launch sites.

We had booked for a short break and just wanted somewhere to rest our heads as we travelled on a motorbike. We caught the wrong end of the weather and arrived the same time as the snow, so we were... more |

This is a little gem of a place to go. The Chateau cottage is set in a beautiful country location, down a tree lined lane. It is a quiet and restful location. There is also plenty to do in the area if you wish or as little to do if you prefer. We enjoyed taking a walks in the evenings and early mornings. The cottage is really very comfortable as well as beautiful. Very well appointed with everything that you would need to make your stay very enjoyable. It was very clean and tidy. The bedrooms are typically French with the stylish presentation you would expect and in fact that is the same for the whole cottage. You would not be disapointed with accommodation. There are plenty of towels and the showering facilities are excellent. This place, as I have said is a real 'Gem' and should not be missed. There are three cottages all in all. They are set in the beautiful courtyard of the Chateau. Again, this is typically French and has a lovely atmosphere that we enjoyed very much. I have to say that we have now visited the Chateau three times and we plan to return in the future. We just love it there. The owners of the Chateau are English. Mr Shaw has lived in the area for some 20 years or so. He has an excellent knowledge of the area and local history. It would be very worth while having a chat with him. The owers are very pleasant and very approachable. So, if anyone who reads this review and decides to have a stay at the Chateau, please take my advice. Also, just in case you would like a good meal out. Go and visit the restaurant in the near by village of Wismes. This is owened by a young French couple. Their English is not so good but neither is my French. This lanuage barrier is more than made up by their genuine warmth and hospitality. You will also be in for a good meal too. I have never written a review before, as I think that holidays are generally good in most respects. I have decided to write this because I think this is quite an exceptional place to visit in all respects. Hope you go and enjoy the Chateau Cottage as much as we do. |

My wife and I have spent the last three years visiting France three to four time each year, this year we have stayed at Chateau Gros Tison three times. We keep coming back because it is a fantastic location and we are always well looked after. Its nicely presented, well equipped and sparklingly clean, included is a welcome pack always appreciated. Nice surrounding grounds with a view over the village from the courtyard, just the sounds of birds. Good local shopping and commercial centre shopping area nearby. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Nicole, Laurie and of course Bertie for making our stay welcome and memorable. We look forward to returning again next year. |
