Masseria Casa Nostra is an elegant family run Bed and Breakfast property a few minutes distance from the clear blue waters and fine sandy beaches of Savellletri/Torre Canne, Puglia, Southern Italy. Succluded amongst the ancient olive groves the Masseria sits at the foot of the famous Selva hills and boasts some spectacular panoramic views over the Apulian landscape and surrounding Adriatic coastline. The Masseria dates back to the 19th century and has influences from Greek and Arabic architecture with fabulous star vaulted ceilings all made from local stone.
The property consists of 6 double en suite luxury bedrooms each with their own separate entrance, private terrace and outside dining area. Private parking, barbeque and central kitchen facilities are available should you wish to prepare lunch or dine 'Al Fresco'. A large gazebo patio with seating is available should you want to relax in the warm afternoon Apulian sun. Each of the bedrooms are named after the fruit trees which grow in abundance in the grounds of Masseria Casa Nostra and include apple, plum, fig, pear and grape vines. The rooms include all the facilities you would expect from a luxury B&B property including, air conditioning, safe, mini-bar, television, internet access and beach towels so you can save on your luggage allowance! Continental breakfast can be served in the dining room or on your own private terrace.
Guests can walk or use the bicycles provided to get to the beach which is just a few minutes ride away and the Masseria has arrangements with local beaches for special rates on umbrella and lounger hire. There are many wonderful seaside restaurants serving local produce and if you don't fancy going too far on an evening, there is a good pizzeria/restaurant just down the road from the property. For those wishing to do a few activities whilst on holiday there is the nearby 18 hole San Domenico Golf Course, a Go-kart track, horse riding and water sports facilities all within the area.
Masseria Casa Nostra has great access to the nearby towns of Fasano and Monopoli, famous for its port and daily seafood markets and is close to many local attractions including the Zoo Safari Theme Park, Ancients ruins of Egnazia, and the Caves of Castellana. It is only a short drive from Locorotondo over looking the Valle D'Itria, the capital town of the Trulli, Alberobello and close to Polignano Al Mare, a unique cliff top town.
The property is owned and run by Franco and Jane. Franco who is from the area, has over 35 years experience working in the Hospitality industry. The Puglia/Molise region
Puglia is a region rich with history with many places to visit : from the baroque architecture of towns like Lecce and Martina Franca to the famous Trulli in Alberobello.
The climate is typical temperate Mediterranean with long hot summers with very little rain and a prevailing northern breeze.
Fasano area
We are in a perfect location to visit the many beautiful sites of Southern Puglia:
LECCE (94km, 1hr 10 mins) is commonly nicknamed the 'Florence of the South' due to its rich baroque architectural monuments.
MARTINA FRANCA (17km, 25 mins), overlooking the charming Valle d’Itria, hosts a particularly beautiful old town, an example of baroque art with winding, tiny streets leading on to piazzas. It hosts the festival della Valle D’Itria, a summer opera festival, in July and August.
OSTUNI (28km, 25 mins), one of the most stunning cities in Southern Italy and often referred to as the “White Town” for its white walls and typically white painted architecture.
ALBEROBELLO (19km, 25 mins), a UNESCO World Heritage site, is famous for its mass of 1500 beehive shaped houses (trulli) made from local limestone.
MATERA (123km, 1hr 50 mins), said to be one of the world’s oldest towns and a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Sassi area (stone houses carved out of the caves and cliff) is riddled with small alleyways and staircases and dotted with frescoed cave churches.
TRANI (110km, 1hr 25 mins) has a beautiful and famous cathedral, built in Apulian Romanesque style, sits in a large square directly overlooking the sea.
GROTTE DI CASTELLANA (30km, 30 mins), spectacular limestone caves discovered in 1938, Italy’s longest natural subterranean network with extraordinary stalactites and stalagmites in all shapes and sizes decorating the gallery’s many paths which take visitors up to 70 meters underground.
CISTERNINO (18km, 20 mins), with its historical centre containing white washed stone buildings with narrow streets and churches.
POLIGNANO A MARE (25km, 25 mins), a small seaside community with its historical centre sitting above a rugged coastline.
MONOPOLI (17km, 20 mins), an old fishing village with several picturesque beaches.
LOCOROTONDO (11km, 15 mins), rated as one of the most beautiful towns in Italy.
ZOO SAFARI animal safari and adventure park(4km, 10 mins).
EGNAZIA (4km, 10 mins) Ancient pre-Roman town with its museum and archeologic park.
LA COSTA DEL SALENTO (begins at 80km, 55 mins) The most southern part of Puglia with its coastline at times high,wild,with its water of a splendid colour,and at times low and sandy.
LA RISERVA NATURALE DI TORRE GUACETO (30km, 25 mins) a nature reserve stretching over 1200 hectares comprising of ancient olive groves, sand dunes, wetlands and a marine reserve.
