Monte das Figueiras - Hill of the Fig Groves - is situated on a level site in a hilly region of the Algarve near Azinheiro. In a rural setting, it enjoys panoramic views towards the ocean and is surrounded by traditional almond, fig, carob and olive trees.
This architect-designed villa was constructed to an extremely high specification and provides truly luxurious accommodation. The appearance of the villa accords with traditional Algarvean design, but has every modern amenity to ensure comfort, peace and tranquillity. Furnished to an extremely high standard, it has stylish décor which makes use of artefacts both old and new, including many fine and interesting pieces of local origin. Maid service is provided on weekdays.

Out of season, comfort is assured by full gas-fired central heating and double glazing throughout the villa. A wood burning stove adds cosiness to the sitting area.
ENTRANCE HALL. A large welcoming area with cloakroom, and glass doors to a terrace, it is decorated with typical and antique local artefacts.
SITTING ROOM. A large attractive room with views of the pool and terraces. The hand fabricated stone fireplace houses an electrically assisted wood burning stove whilst the area is furnished in a tastefully restful style with vivid touches of the old Algarve. There is satellite television and a DVD player.
DINING ROOM. This room enjoys views over the countryside towards the ocean. It is open-plan in style and seats eight in comfort, and once again is furnished in the traditional Algarvean style with many antique pieces.
VERANDA. This covered summer living space set between open pillars and arches houses a large brick barbecue and tiled outdoor dining table. Sunny for breakfasts and sundowners, and shaded for lunches and lazing about, the veranda makes for relaxed and luxurious outdoor living. A few easy steps lead down to the swimming pool, the terraces, and to the gardens. The specially constructed games area, equipped for boules and other pastimes, offers particularly attractive views to the coast, as does the nearby gazebo.
KITCHEN. The kitchen overlooks the front gardens and comes fully equipped with a refrigerator / freezer, gas cooker, microwave oven, a small electric oven and all other usual kitchen utilities.
BEDROOMS. There are four spacious double bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms with WCs. One room has a double bed and the three others have twin beds. Two of the bathrooms have baths with additional showers and the other two have showers. All the bedrooms have access to private balconies or garden terraces.

The villa is set in over an acre of landscaped and irrigated gardens. Whilst the lower terraces have retained their traditional agricultural appearance, the land surrounding the villa is now lavishly planted with an abundant array of plants and mature trees and shrubs. The garden and pool are professionally maintained.
The property naturally lends itself to outdoor living with its large Moorish pillared veranda and ten meter swimming pool - and games area. Pool heating may be requested in advance as an optional extra. A tiled dining table conveniently placed by the barbecue - ideal for taking meals al fresco - completes the recreation area. A roof top patio is available for private sunbathing.
Unfortunately the unfenced swimming pool and stonewall terracing make the villa unsuitable for toddlers or other children less than 14 years.
The villa rental includes all facilities, maid service weekdays, except Portuguese national holidays, weekly change of sheets and towels, gas, electricity and water. Beach towels are not provided. A welcome parcel of essential food and drinks, and car hire, can be arranged if required.
The rental is determined by the commencing date of the holiday and each succeeding week’s date of commencement. Change-over day is Thursday or exceptionally another day by arrangement. Departure is by 10.00 AM on that day.

The Algarve / East Algarve region
The Algarve has a relaxed and historic character quite distinct from other Mediterranean resorts. Many visitors are attracted by the superb golf courses of international standard. Others come for the sunshine and the miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. Monte das Figueiras is for the discerning visitor, those who enjoy quiet idyllic days in the complete privacy of their own country house, with easy access to all the area's holiday facilities.
The Faro / Estoi area
The property is located near Azinheiro, a charming and friendly but tiny village approximately thirty minutes drive from Faro International Airport. Estoi is the closest town to the villa. Within five minutes drive, it offers a variety of small shops, a country market, Roman ruins and an 18th century palace. Faro Old Town and the delights of Olhao - a fishing town famous for its Moorish architecture - are within easy reach.

Approximately 30 minutes from Faro Airport by car. The airport is served by budget airlines including EasyJet from many UK and other international airports. Car hire from the airport is recommended and is readily available or can be arranged (as can taxis) by the local managing agents.

Notes to the tariff:
Optional pool heating available on-season is charged at £100 per week (2013 £125) and cot rental at £30 per week.There is a £50 booking supplement in respect of any agreed weekend arrival dates. A returnable deposit of £100 is required on arrival to cover any unforeseen breakages. Off-season, the cost of space heating if required is calculated and paid locally. A deposit of £75 per person is required on booking and the balance six weeks prior to arrival. The usual travel and cancellation insurance is recommended. Terms for long lets off-season are quoted on request. Special terms apply to Christmas and New Year bookings. All rentals are payable to the local managing agents.Enquire now
