Set in the sunny Algarve region, 10 min drive away from the beach or mountains makes Kwadalayo Art Quarters the perfect setting for an unforgettable holiday. 10 min drive away from the typical village of Estoi, were the Roman Ruins of Milreu (a Roman villa with private thermal baths) and the Baroque Place of Estoi (often compared as a mini Versailles) can be visited. 5 min drive (15 min walking distance) away from Faro´s fortified historical center conquered from a Moorish prince. It is also possible to catch a boat and visit the islands and the famous beautiful Ria Formosa. Walking distance from supermarkets and 2min drive from shopping centre.
The name Kwadalayo comes from the South African roots of the artist / designer and owner.
In the Zulu language, "KWA" means "THE PLACE" and "DALA" means "CREATORS". When we place them together, Kwadalayo means "THE CREATORS PLACE". Kwadalayo reflects our philosofy and our way of life.

The Algarve region
The region is an extensive and pleasant one, with a Mediterranean climate, marked by the smell of the sea at low tide and the scent of wild flowers. Here you will find some of Europe's most beautiful beaches, from where you can admire the rocky coastline and the playful shadows they cast on the sand. After the enchantment of the landscape, you can discover the aromas and flavours of the traditional Algarve cuisine.
The menu may consist of fish and shellfish, with such dishes as caldeirada de peixe (fish-stew) or cataplana de amêijoas (clams steamed in a copper pan), or you can enjoy the traditional mountain food of stewed chickpeas and cabbage. The range of choices will also include the famous regional delicacies, such as figs, almonds, carobs and the brandy made from the locally grown medronho (arbutus-berry), distilled up in the hills in old copper stills.
Travel across the Algarve, amidst its hills and plains filled with places of great ecological interest, rich in biodiversity and ecosystems.
Only a step away from the tranquil peace of the inland region is the excitement of the Algarve nightlife. Bars, discos, marinas and casinos guarantee visitors the very best kind of merrymaking.
The region's built heritage is something you cannot afford to miss. The architecture of the whitewashed houses, with their brightly-coloured mouldings and remarkably beautiful chimneys, the church belfries and the museums, all reveal particular memories of the ancestors of the Algarve people.
Also to be recommended is the range of outdoor sports that are available, whether you're playing golf on lush green courses or enjoying some physical exercise at some of the region's excellent facilities, whether you're on the coast or perhaps up in the hills, where, after the rigours of winter and even before the first signs of spring, the land is covered in a pinkish white blanket, produced by the blossom of the almond-trees scattered across the horizon.
This is the true portrait of an Algarve that you'll find waiting for you, all year round.

Faro - Algarve's capital has a more distinctly Portuguese feel than most resort towns. It has an attractive marina, well-maintained parks and plazas and a historic old town full of pedestrian lanes and outdoor cafes. Its student population of 8000 ensures a happening nightlife, and its theatre scene is strong. Marvellously preserved medieval quarters harbour curious museums, churches and a bone chapel. The lagoons of the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa and nearby beaches, including the island sands of Ilha de Faro to the southwest and Ilha da Barreta (aka Ilha Deserta) to the south, add to Faro's allure.

"cheerful, colorful and cozy apartment"
This flat is very cheerful and well decorated with colorful spaces which makes the space very cozy. It is very spacious and comfortable and full of art. Everything was very clean and tidy. The location is also great, very close to supermarkets (2min walk) and 10 min walk to down town. I would definitely recommend it.
The owner was very helpful with anything I needed regarding not only the house but anything that came up. He was very responsible and organized with his commitment and trustworthy.
