The Anywhere region

Cholsey is probably most famous for being the burial place of Agatha Christie and her husband, who had a house in neighbouring Winterbrook. Spot the blue plaque on your way into Wallingford. There is also a former Victorian asylum that is currently being carefully renovated into private homes set amidst 100 acres of parkland and meadows. You may be lucky enough to catch the local cricket club playing a match in the summer months in the shadow of the asylum.

The village has a couple of grocery stores and pubs, a pharmacy, cafe, hairdresser, children's playground and an Indian and a Chinese restaurant.

Far Far Away

3 miles (there's a good bus service) from Cholsey is the historic market town of Wallingford - the second town ever to be awarded a Royal Charter back in the 1100s. 2 miles in the other direction is the hamlet of Moulsford with its ancient church and renowned riverside restaurant The Beetle & Wedge.

From Wallingford there's a bus to Henley on Thames, the home of rowing and the River & Rowing Museum. Also nearby are a handful of National Trust properties and family attractions such as Beale Park and The Living Rainforest.

The train station has direct links to Oxford (30-40 mins), London Paddington (60 mins), Reading (20 mins) and Didcot Parkway (20 mins).
