From the owner

The Cottage has been sympathetically restored to retain historical features without compromising on comfort.

The building is of unusual and distinct structure with hexagonal front elevations. The living room and double bedroom are particulary light rooms with double aspects.

The front windows are prettily framed in small hexagonals which complement the overall structure. The back windows are original casement windows with stained glass panels.

Most of the fireplace are original and there are gas-lights in all the downstairs rooms although sadly they are no longer working. In the living room there is an attractive mantlepiece made from local marble which contains many fossils such as ammonites.

Carisbrooke is located in the centre of the island and makes an ideal base for exploring the Island during your holiday. The cottage is within walking distance of the beautiful St George's Downs and the 8 mile Island cycle track from Newport to Sandown.

The Isle Of Wight

The Isle of Wight offers the opportunity of many outdoor pursuits including walking, cycling, and golf.

The Island is one of the richest wildlife counties in Britain. It has a large colony of red squirrels which although rare on the mainland are regularly seen on the island.

The island has 13 award winning beaches. Some of these provide the best places for finding dinosaur fossils in Europe.

The two major ferry companies are wightlink and redfunnel. Both offer a regular service throughout the year. There is also a passenger hovercraft service for a more exciting ride!

I am very disappointed to read this review. All concerns raised by the guest were dealt with promptly and courteously during her stay. The bathroom door was sticking slightly because a screw had become loose in the carpet cover door strip which was easily resolved with a screwdriver. The leaking waste pipe was actually caused by a bracket being knocked accidentally and my neighbour rang me to inform me that this had happened and offered to fix it. We fixed it within a few hours of being informed. The remaining issues are grossly exaggerated or untrue. The guest received her uncashed damages deposit cheque within 14 days of holiday and nothing was deducted for the extra cleaning following her stay.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Siobhan (the owner) a message.

If Siobhan (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
