The Tenerife region
Just off the coast of Africa and strongly influenced by the tribal culture of the Guanches, Tenerife was conquered by the Spanish roughly 500 years ago. Home of Spains tallest peak, Mount Teide, and to one of the popular beach resorts, Playa Las Americas. The Island can be explored easily by car or with a "bono bus" ticket which offers cheaper fares for frequent use. You can visit Loro Park to see tropical birds, Tenerife Zoo, Monkey Park and Parque Nacional Canadas, Teide's volcanic rock formations.
Being so close to North Africa, you will enjoy temperatures from 22-26 in winter and 26-38 in summer.
The Fanabe / Del Duque area
El Duque is centrally located in Costa Adeje.
The beaches which are scattered all along the coast line from Los Cristianos through to La Caleta (fishing village- try the local restaurants for the locally caught fish) can be reached via the coastline walk way, taking you through some of the prettiest scenic routes with plenty of stop offs on the way. There is a wide selection of water sports available and its a popular area for golfers, who have easy access to major golf courses and its very popular for cyclists/walkers.
There are boat trips out to see dolphins and whales.
There is definitely something to suit everyone's taste!
There is as much or as little to do as suits your needs. Just laze on the beach all day, lay around one of the pools, or chill out in one of the contemporary bars or restaurants, or visit some of the many local attractions.
All of these are easily accessible from the house.
