The Green House
About the home
The Green House is a newly refurbished traditional Cornish Fishermans Cottage in the pretty waterside village of Flushing near Falmouth, Cornwall.
Unfortunately, many Cornish holiday cottages are tired and tatty, with ageing kitchens and bathrooms, outdated heating and hot water systems, charity shop furniture and uncomfortable beds. We have set out to provide something special at The Green House, somewhere that is guaranteed to offer our guests a spotlessly clean, comfortable, hiqh-quality holiday retreat that you will want to return to again and again.
The cottage was refurbished to a very high standard last year in a clean and contemporary style whilst still retaining it's charming 200 year old character. It sleeps six in 3 bedrooms.
Enter through the front door into a hall with slate flooring. The lounge is equipped with LCD flat screen TV with SKY Plus, iPod docking station, Playstation and wood-burning stove.
A separate dining room leads into the modern re-fitted kitchen with solid wood worktops, halogen hob, electric oven and dishwasher. To the rear of the kitchen is a utility area with washer / dryer and separate WC.
From the kitchen a small courtyard leads up the feature garden. This has a tropical feel with lush planting, outdoor lighting and decked areas with sunloungers, a hammock and a table and chairs.
Upstairs, the luxury bathroom features a heated slate floor, deep bath, large separate shower and WC.
The master bedroom looks out onto the pretty street whilst the second looks onto the garden at the rear. Both feature double beds.
The third bedroom has a nautical feel with white bunk-beds and Laura Ashley fabrics and furnishings.
For those with young children there is a cot and a high chair at the cottage.
The use of wireless broadband is included.

The West Country / Cornwall region

Flushing is one known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour.
It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country. Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.
There is also easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estury, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own dog-friendly beach.
The Falmouth / Flushing area
Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community. The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two annual fixtures not to be missed that the whole community embraces.
Flushing has two friendly pubs - The Standard, which was recently renovated and offers excellent food, and The Seven Stars, a more traditional pub with an equally extensive menu. There is also an award-winning restaurant located on the quayside, a well-stocked general store, and a farm shop selling local produce.
A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.
Flushing is easy to reach by car. Penryn is the nearest rail station and connects to mainline services at Truro, which has a direct rail link to London (Paddington) with a journey time of approximately 4 hours. There is also a regular local bus service. Air travellers can fly from London Stansted or Gatwick to Newquay.

We cannot recommend this cottage enough. The location is great with the regular, half hourly Flushing ferry service over to Falmouth (except) Sundays. Parking was not a problem. The cottage itself was tastefully furnished together with some outstanding features such as the low lighting on the landing and the heated bathroom floor. Everything necessary for a comfotable stay was provided, from logs to dishwasher tablets, from Sky+ to a fab Cornish Cream Tea! |

A holiday here was a real treat. We have done the Padstow area mostly in the last 25 years but think that this week will change that. Loved St Mawes, all the ferries, Mylor and Flushing, and... more |

Guestbook for The Green House
"Thank you so much for sharing your delightful home with us. We had such a wonderful time and really did not want to leave. The Green House is perfect - we have never seen such a lovely holiday home before. It was so nice, and the atmosphere was so welcoming. You must have put so much work into the renovations. We were down in Cornwall looking to buy a home, and after The Green House nothing comes close!"
Helen & Chris, USA.
"The cottage was awesome, we couldn’t believe it when we arrived and wondered if we were in the right house! We would have redecorated our entire home to mimic The Green House by now if Nelson had not pointed out that it might not have the same charm in Nottingham. The house was spotless when we arrived and everything that we needed was there. The location was brilliant, Flushing is lovely and so close to Falmouth. The beach at Flushing is great for shell collecting and entertaining small children and the beach at Falmouth was just brilliant. A final point was that it was such a pleasure to have had such a friendly and personal booking service, we really felt that if there was anything we needed to know that we would be able to get in touch and find out - a real plus."
Becky, Nelson, Archie, Charlotte, Simon, Ellie and Isabelle, Nottingham.
"The Green House is brilliant. Great design and decor, and sparkling clean. We had forgotten just how good Cornwall makes you feel. I am sure we will be back again, and we will be telling our friends about The Green House too."
Katy & Family, Jersey.
"We have been telling everyone how lovely The Green House is. Although it was peak season the village was quiet and both pubs looked after us so well throughout the week. We are a very fussy bunch, and the highest praise we have is that we have already been discussing a return visit in the Winter months, so don't be surprised if you see us again!"
Claire & Family, Bedford.
"We loved the Lost Gardens of Heligan, meals at The Standard and taking the Flushing Ferry over to Falmouth.
Lovely walks round the headland to Mylor Marina. Maisie had a great time swimming in the sea. The cottage is beautiful and very well equipped."
Harriet, Nigel, Lauren, George, Rob and Maisie, Somerset.
"There is an unimpeachable sense of good taste and design in The Green House. It was wonderfully clean and very well organised."
John & Terumi, Africa.
