The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall's scenery changes every couple of miles, from upland heath to wooded river valley, hidden coves to rugged cliffs. Miles of unspoilt beaches with the rugged contours of weathered rocks for company.
One of the many wonders of Cornwall is its timeless quality due to its isolation and geography. The past is still present in the ancient stone circles and the mysticism of' it's landscape. North Cornwall of course has Tintagel castle wrapped in the legend and tales of King Arthur. There are indeed new additions including the Eden project at St Austell to blend with the history.
The many towns and villages have their own unique flavour and distinct characters from the fishing village of, St Ives and Padstow to the tightly packed streets and houses of Lostwithiel.
The Cornish have preserved many of their rituals and traditions while others have let them fall by the wayside. Annual events bring people together onto the streets. Some of the events we class as sports - see the Hurling, and the gig racing in falmouth- others are feasts linked to the saints day of various towns like St Day and St Just.
Cornwall creates a mesmerising taste that is intoxicating and most will return to re-experience.
The Falmouth area
Falmouth is Cornwalls leading South Coast resortand home to the countrys maritime heritage. Here you will find sandy golden beaches, spectacular scenery, specialist shops from local art to antiques and exceptional sailing in the Carrick Roads and the Fal Estuary.
Falmouths natural harbour is the third deepest in the world and provides a picturesque background to the bustling cobbled main shopping street. Unsurpassed views of Flushing village, St Just in Roseland, St Mawes castle, Falmouth, Falmouth Bay and beyond, can be glimpsed between the buildings, or from the charming walkways meandering through the town.
For divers, it's all on your door step . Cornish Divers, operate diving expeditions in and around the Falmouth bay waters diving down to fantastic wrecks in this, smugglers paradise.

Sight seeing in the Falmouth area could not be easier - climb aboard one of the many pleasure boats and passenger ferries which ply the local waters to the picturesque St Mawes harbour, Flushing village, Trelissick Gardens, Smugglers Cottage at Tolverne, Truro and the helford Passage. For those that prefer terra firma, an open top bus travels continiously in season linking the town beaches and King Henry VIII's Pendennis castle.
Falmouth is an excellent location for walkers, who can pick up the south-west coastal path nearby; the striking Lizard and Roseland peninsulas are a stones throw away.
