The Cornwall region
Did you know that Cornwall was recently voted by people from all over Britain, the UK's best holiday destination at the British Travel Awards? And its not difficult to see why. A varied landscape, that contains dramatic cliffs and pounding surf along the north coast and hidden coves, hamlets and estuaries to the south, historic villages, a thriving local food and art scene, exotic gardens, wonderful sailing, surfing and rock pooling, a sense of history and community, all of which combines to offer the visitor a real sense of escape and well being.
What's more, Falmouth is perfectly positioned to sample all of these things.
Gardens like Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick and idyllic waterside villages such as St Mawes and Helford, are literally on the doorstep and can be visited on a memorable boat trip from Falmouth. Must see Cornish events, destinations and attractions such as Culdrose Air Day, Royal Cornwall Show, Daphne de Maurier Festival, St Ives, Truro, Padstow, the Minack Theatre or the Eden Project are all under an hour away, either by car, train, bus or boat.
Falmouth has been shaped and influenced by its strong connection to the sea. A fascinating maritime heritage sits comfortably alongside the creative, building a name for itself as the South West's cultural and festival destination. Falmouth is an engaging and fun base for all the family, with many of Cornwall's top attractions, beaches, walks and villages on the doorstep.
There are some terrific family friendly beaches with Castle Beach being the most northerly of all the Falmouth beaches, situated alongside Pendennis point. The shop sells beach balls, buckets and spades and also provides deck chair hire. Further along Gyllyngvase Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Falmouth being a Blue Flag status beach, with its wide arc of golden sand and inviting sea. Great amenities, with award winning cafe, yet still only a 10 minute walk away from Falmouth town centre. Gylly Beach Cafe is built over the beach and offers fantastic views from its sun drenched terrace and is open all year round. "Wonderful stay in a beautiful & well appointed apartment."
We arrived at 10pm on a wet & windy night. Entry instructions very clear & saved a lot of hassle. The biscuits in the welcome pack (tea, coffee & milk too) were eaten not long arrival. A nice touch. Beautifully appointed apartment - just perfect for 3 adults. Lovely & close to town & theharbour & a short stroll to the nearest beach. No time for shopping as we had come to see the newest arrival to the family but town itself is full of lovely independent shops.
I would say that I have high expectations of the places I choose to stay in & happily pay extra for quality. I would happily stay here again & I would have no hesitation in recommending Sea Escapes. Great value too.
