A delightful three-bedroomed cottage in the perfect location for a fun-packed family holiday, Clottage boasts stunning water views, its own parking space and a courtyard garden.

This welcoming, white-fronted house is the second in a row of five character cottages nestled around a pretty lawned area, just metres away from Flushing's charming quayside. Clottage has been stylishly decorated by its owners with pale colours and quirky fabrics to create a family holiday retreat with a sunny seaside feel.

Step through Clottage's inviting powder blue front door, through its compact entrance hall and you find yourself immediately in the heart of this lovely home, an impressive open-plan living/dining space. The décor here sets the tone for the rest of the house and the owners have created a relaxed, bright, seaside feel, combining white walls, tongue-and-groove panelling and pale wood floors with quality soft furnishings adding splashes of colour. The focal point of this bright, family space has to be its amazing, ever-changing river view from the large window to the front of the house, around which the owners have built a comfy seat; the perfect spot on which to perch and watch the world go by. A generous amount of additional seating is provided by a pair of sofas and matching armchairs, furnished to suit the nautical theme in a deep blue with an assortment of pretty cushions. When the sun goes down and you decide to draw the pretty checked curtains on the captivating view, a TV, DVD and stereo will provide alternative entertainment. Should you wish to remain in contact with the outside world during your escape here, then WiFi has also been provided.

A raised dining area with wooden table and chairs to comfortably seat six has been created at the other end of the room. This sociable space opens up to an additional al fresco eating area in Clottage's charming white-walled courtyard, through a set of French patio doors. If you are holidaying with young children, a high chair can be provided for your use.

Although compact, the kitchen here has been well equipped with quality appliances and continues the same bright, fresh feel as the rest of the interior, with simple white and blue tiling and pale units. To maximise storage space in the kitchen and keep noise to a minimum, a washing machine and tumble dryer have been thoughtfully installed in the outhouse which can be accessed through the courtyard garden. This room also provides useful storage space for wet, sandy clothes or surf gear.

The coastal charm of this bright, sunny property continues upstairs. The master bedroom with king size bed and window seat decorated in pretty fabrics boasts stunning views over the quayside and has been simply decorated in fresh white. Located to the back of the house with garden views, the twin room again has a bright, fresh feel and benefits from a built-in wardrobe. Our favourite bedroom -sadly strictly for children only!- is a delightfully furnished single with bunk beds, which provide the most fabulous vantage point from which to keep track of the boats as they make their way across the Penryn river to Falmouth Bay and back. Luxury bedding is provided throughout and a travel cot is available for those with younger children.

It is evident that the owners have borne the needs of a family in mind throughout when furnishing this seaside holiday home and the bathroom is no exception. The spacious room has been fitted with a modern white suite comprising W.C, bath and separate shower and its white tiles with colourful detailing bring a bright, fun feel to it.

Clottage offers families light, bright accommodation in a central location. As one of our dog-friendly properties too it remains a firm favourite with guests.

Sleeping 6, the master bedroom with double bed overlooks the water and has a window seat, the second bedroom has twin singles, while the third bedroom is ideally suited to children with bunk beds and (again) a water view.

Luxury bedding and towels are provided as is WiFi.

The house also comes with its own allocated car parking space in the quay.

Boat hire and/ or moorings can be arranged if required.

The West Country region

Flushing is perfectly placed to explore all of Cornwall. it is one known to be one of the warmest villages in the UK because it has an idyllic sheltered south-facing aspect, between the banks of the Penryn River and Falmouth Harbour.

It became popular in the eighteenth century as the choice location for the wealthy Packet Ship captains, and was visited by Admiral Nelson. Latterly it has become one of the most sought-after locations anywhere in the West Country. Flushing has an unrivalled mild climate, streets lined with picture-postcard traditional terraced fisherman’s cottages, and beautiful unspoilt surrounding countryside.

There is also easy access onto some of the best sailing waters anywhere in the West Country, with the Helford River, the Fal Estury, Falmouth Bay and Mylor Yacht Harbour all within reach. Flushing also has a Sailing Club that welcomes guests, and it’s own dog-friendly beach.

Falmouth

Many Cornish villages have become over crowded with tourists, but Flushing is much quieter, even during peak season, and it still benefits from a strong and vibrant community. The Flushing Regatta and Flushing Art Week are two annual fixtures not to be missed that the whole community embraces.

Flushing has two friendly pubs - The Standard, which was recently renovated and offers excellent food, and The Seven Stars, a more traditional pub with an equally extensive menu. There is also an award-winning restaurant located on the quayside, and a friendly well-stocked general store.

A passenger ferry runs a regular service between Flushing and Falmouth. It also connects with the ferries to St Mawes, Mylor, Trelissick and Truro. In summer the Fal River boats offer trips to the gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan, and onwards to Truro. A local water taxi service also runs around the bay.

Unlike Mevagissey, Fowey, Padstow, St Ives and similar towns, parking is available, either outside the house or in a car park at the end of the street.
