The West Country region

Cornwall with it's temperate climate, rugged coast line and long sandy beaches has long been favoured as the holiday destination in the South West of England.

As a peninsular the county has long connections with the sea and is much desired by artists for its fantastic light and wonderful scenery. As a hub of creativity there is an abundance of galleries, markets and meeting places featuring local crafts people and musicians alike.

Diversity is what makes Cornwall special, small fishing villages, wooded rivers, moorland, beaches and wonderful towns with local shops and produce to tempt all palates and tastes. Locally caught fish and oysters, locally grown vegetables and fruit, not to mention a good cornish cream tea in either a quaint old village pub or a modern contemporary bar, accompanied with a local beer or local coffee. There are.cliff walks, woodland walks, historic houses and childrens themed venues, surfing, sailing, fishing, kayaking....... Cornwall has something for everyone of any age to enjoy.

The Historic town of Falmouth situated on one of the largest naturally deep harbours in the world has recently been voted the fourth best place to live in the UK, by The Sunday Times. It is home to the iconic Falmouth Working Boats, The Royal Cornwall Yacht Club as well as fishing and pleasure boat rides.

Ferries leave regularly from the two piers in the town to a number of destinations where, on arrival you can enjoy a delicious lunch of local produce sitting on the quay. Travel up to the Helford river with its wooded banks and spectacular gardens of subtropical plants and wonderful scenery. On the other side of town are the beaches of Gyllingvase and Swanpool sat behind the medieval castle of Pendennis.

Falmouth is ideally situated to reach all areas around the south of Cornwall. The capital city of Truro is a short ride away by either car, rail or sea. The main roads are easily reached taking you to Penzance in the south or Newquay in the north and beyond.

The town centre has an array of local shops, galleries, cafes and bars featuring local artists and craft work. In the evening enjoy a quite evening meal or a lively bar featuring local musicians.....Falmouth has something for everyone
