The West Country region
The peninsula of Cornwall, or Kernow as it was known to its ancient Celtic inhabitants, is a land wreathed in beauty and mystery, with a unique Celtic heritage.
Covering an area of 1,376 sq miles (3,363sq km) and famed for its golden beaches, secluded coves, and soaring cliffs, which in spring are lined with pink sea thrift, Cornwall has a mild climate and its warm summer temperatures due to the Gulf Stream make it an ideal holiday location.
Falmouth has one of the finest natural harbours in the world and homes a vibrant maritime history. The National Maritime Museum complex has developed into a thriving visitor attraction offering boutique shops, galleries and restaurants; Rick Stein's famous fish and chip shop being the latest addition. Alongside the complex runs the Falmouth Marina which is usually the launchpad for many yachting races and regattas including the annual Tall Ships regatta.
The nearby Pendennis Castle is situated on the picturesque Pendennis Point and combines local history and breathtaking scenery. Be sure to check upcoming events in the town as the castle usually gets involved somehow and can put on some stunning displays. Falmouth town centre itself has a great selection of shops, waterside cafes and restaurants as well as the Falmouth Art Gallery which is one of the best in Cornwall.
The four beaches all have their unique selling points, starting at the secluded Castle Beach running along to the buzzing Gyllyngvase Beach with its trendy cafe to the family friendly Swanpool beach surrounded by an impressive nature reserve. The walk that runs through the beaches and alongside the cliff edges is simply un-missable, offering the opportunity to see ship wrecks, local flora and fauna and hidden rock pools.

"Quiet cottage close to town centre"
The cottage was very well equiped and comfortable. Outside was a nice summer house. The owner was very helpful. Only one slight moan and that was that one of the walls in the bedroom had obviously got a problem with damp The owner was very helpful and all in all we had a lovely weeks holiday.
Thank you so much for your kind review and happy your enjoyed your break in Falmouth. We always appreciate feedback on where we can make improvements to make your stay more comfortable.
The slight damp problem you mentioned was down to lack of central heating and poor air circulation prior to 2012. We have now installed full central heating with traditional style column radiators so the cottage is super cosy and renovating the bedroom ready for spring 2013. Photos to follow so watch this space!.....'

"Great find!! Gem of a house within easy walking of everything and good facilities"
From beginning to end Lindsey can not be faulted with her genuine helpfulness and hospitality. There was a handly folder of information for places to visit, eat out at as well as local shops and transport. Parking and buses are right on the doorstep.
It was also refreshing to find somewhere which was contemporary and minimalist in its style. A selection of DVD's and books are on hand should it happen to rain or you are looking for a quiet night in.
All in all, if you are a couple looking for a stay in Falmouth this is the place to go if you want to be central and have all your home comforts.
Would happily stay here again!

"Lovely Wee Gem"
My husband and I had a 3 night stay recently and it was just perfect for the two of us. We were so comfortable and cozy it was a shame to have to leave after only a long weekend. The decor was refreshingly minimal and contemporary. Great location and exceptionally clean. We look forward to staying here again soon.

"A cosy couple of days in a well-appointed house with excellent facilities."
Perhaps we were lucky with the weather, which is always a bonus with any stay away from home, but we had an excellent time at Chy Byghan - comfortable beds, a great home enterainment system for if the rain does start to fall and a lovely, helpful owner who couldn't do enough for us - thoroughly recommended!

"good place to have easy (walking) access to the town of Falmouth"
Very pleasant for one person although it could accommodate a couple. Shower needs to be adjusted as the water pressure was very low. Also there needs to be a reading lamp in the living room and the bedroom. I very much appreciated the washing machine. Easy access to the buses and the railway station. Overall it met my needs well.
Thank you for your kind review. We have recently updated the property with a new boiler and heating system complete with traditional column radiators. This has fixed the water pressure issue which is now very powerful. I will be adding new photos to the site shortly.
