Barfleur
About the home
Location, location, location.....
Barfleur is situated just a couple of hundred metres from Falmouth's main beach and coastal footpath, and a short stroll to the cafes, restaurants and shops of this picturesque harbourside town.
A footpath directly in front of the house leads down to Gyllyngvase beach, meaning you can run down in your swimsuit!
The beach has blue flag status, and is very beautiful. Our fabulous outside shower (hot) is just great for jumping in when you come back, all sandy, at the end of the day.
Barfleur is very spacious with large wraparound, enclosed gardens. It sleeps twelve comfortably in five bedrooms.
Barfleur has just had major renovation works completed, creating a new stunning open plan space. This is a real "wow" factor house. A new huge open plan kitchen/diner/ living area with easy access to both sides of the large garden makes for a really sociable and pleasant living space. The kitchen has handmade bespoke oak units with designer appliances and a large sociable breakfast bar.
Oak floors are laid throughout, along with new folding sliding doors leading to the garden from the open plan room. A spacious solid oak table seats 12 next to a comfortable living area with a woodburning stove. There is also a separate living room with TV and BT on demand and a newly fitted large downstairs shower room with a luxury walk in shower.
Upstairs, the newly fitted master bedroom has fabulous sea views. Those great views are also seen from the new en suite bathroom.
The house has Wi-fi, 3 bathrooms, plus that super outside shower and additional cloakroom. It has driveway parking for two cars, plus lots of on road parking for more cars.
Upstairs there is also lots of extra living space, with a comfortable library/children's play area, again with lovely sea views.
Falmouth is a really great place to spend your holidays. It has three fabulous sandy beaches, several watersports centres where you can try sailing/kayaking/stand up paddleboarding etc; as well as a historic, waterside town packed with independent restaurants and shops. Great views abound in Falmouth. Henry VIII's Pendennis Castle is within walking distance, as is the world renowned Maritime Museum. There is also a great spa hotel 2 mins walk from the house - if you want a little extra pampering.
From Barfleur stroll past the beach to Rick Stein's oyster bar and fish and chip restaurant in Maritime Square. Or walk directly from the house across the coastal path to Swanpool beach to the watersports centre for a spot of sailing or kayaking.
There are tennis courts at the end of the road, and a golf course within 15 minutes walk.
Enjoy lunch, dinner or a sundowner cocktail at the fabulous Gylly beach cafe, just yards from Barfleur.
Everything you could need is within walking distance from the house.
Bed linen and bathroom towels provided. Barfleur offers a great holiday for one, two or even three families sharing.
The surrounding area is very beautiful with both the Helford river and the Carrick Roads offering boat trips, glorious views and great riverside pubs.

We stayed at Barfleur as a big group; three families on holiday together. It was perfect for our needs, with plenty of space for all, and a huge sociable open plan kitchen to gather in. You'll be amazed how big it is! The children loved the huge garden. The location of the house is amazing. You feel like you are right on top of the beaches and open countryside, but it's also really close to the great facilities that Falmouth offers. It's literally a short hop to the fabulous Gyllyngvase Beach from Barfleur. We also took advantage of the facilities down at the other nearby beach at Swanpool, and had a couple of great days out kayaking. A really great holiday was had by all! |
