No 10 Gyllyng St
About the home
Perfect for the family holiday, No 10. allows sailors, fishers, divers, surfers, beach combers, house and garden enthusiasts, shoppers, sports people, swimmers and lazybones to all have a great vacation together.
It is only a 2 minute walk to the cobbled stone High Street where the smells of pasties and fish and chips titilate the taste buds. Try a pint of 'Old Knocker' in the Chain Locker pub watching the fishing boats jostle against the quay. Stroll to Gyllynvase Beach or Swanpool Beach, a brisk walk around Pendennis Castle. Falmouth has a better climate than the North Coast, is more sunny and is less exposed ... perfect for the kids. For those who like the surf beaches, it is still only 25 mins to Perran Porth , St Agnes and Newquay.
The house itself is a beautiful Georgian Townhouse circa 1836, and was inhabited by one of Falmouth's old Commodores. With commanding views from all three levels, it stands proud above Falmouth Harbour and the Carrick Roads beyond. It is even possible to see the open ocean from the top balcony. The Master Bedroom is en-suite and has French Doors which open up to the cry of seagulls in the morning and the chimes of the old church bells (only after 8 am)! It has twin beds which join to make a double. There is a third single bed if needed. On the middle floor there are two more bedrooms, one antique French double and one twin/double convert. Both rooms have amazing views. The bath is not just a bath. It is like sitting in a portrait ... drinking bubbles whilst watching the yachts sail in to the harbour as the sun sets.
Downstairs there is an open living area with large homely kitchen with Aga, breakfast bench and radio/CD stereo system. The lounge area has one sofa, two armchairs and a TV. No satellite TV. We encourage abandonment of such non- necessities. Wirless available at cafe 2mins away. The dining room seats six, and there is a laundry with washing machine, freezer,an extra sink and a convenient w/c. Drying is above the Aga on a traditional suspended clothes rack.
The rear patio has a beautiful cascading waterfall down the rockface ... wonderful for those balmy summer nights and scrumptous BBQ's
