Fisherman's Haven
About the home
Fisherman's Haven is a holiday location with spectacular marine views, ideally located for the town centre, harbour and beaches. Harbourside is a nineteenth century, terraced town house located in a Conservation Area. Historically, this terrace was the home of captains of the Packet Ships, wealthy merchants and business people of Falmouth. The fact that panoramic views of Falmouth Harbour towards Pendennis Castle, across to the village of Flushing and the Roseland Peninsula, with its twin castle of St Mawes can be enjoyed from the Fisherman's Haven, explains why the wealthy of the past chose this location. It now could be your holiday destination!
Fisherman's Haven's location provides easy access to Falmouth town, the start of which is less than 200 metres away form the front door! The town boasts a wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants just a short walk away - forget the car and taxis after an evening out they are not a requirement. Regular passenger ferry trips make Flushing and St Mawes readily accessible all year round. In the summer a range of boat trips allow for a leisurely and relaxing exploration of the harbour, estuaries, creeks and bays allowing you an environmentally friendly holiday.
Falmouth is renowned for its internationally famous sailing waters, fine sandy beaches and beautifully located golf course. The National Maritime Museum, together with spectacular coastal walks, historical castles and sub-tropical gardens nearby, makes the Fisherman's Haven an ideal holiday destination.

Cornwall is beautiful and a wonderful holiday destination!
Cornwall's scenery is a north - south divide. The north coast with its wild, dramatic Atlantic coastline is more favourable to those seeking adrenaline sports like surfing, windsurfing, sailboarding - you get the picture! The idyllic south coast has a much gentler and romantic atmoshere, its lush green meandering coastline, 'Gulf Stream' waters and sub-tropical gardens and historical, literal and artistic links reinforce this feel. With its countless sheltered coves the Fal and Helford area are a supberb location for fishing, boating and sailing enthusiasts.
Cornwall's wonder is its timelessness, its isolation and geography is its charm. Much of its past is still present and Cornwall's history is one of its key attractions. Its also part of your history - how many remember long car journeys as children to that magical destination! Communication links are now very different. Yes times have changed - but not that much. Come and check it out!
The Falmouth area
Falmouth is home to the country's maritime heritage hence its now the home to The National Maritime
Museum
The town is brimming with a bustling shopping thoroughfare, cafes, cinema, restaurants and a profusion of indepently owned shops with a few nationals notablly Marks and Spencers with a good food hall! Antique hunters are well served - the antique shops of the High Street in Falmouth are 200 metres away- always ask for 'price for trade'.
There are many wonderful beaches on this coast the majority of which are readily accessible. Some can only be reached by a challenging hike! But the reward is out-wayed by the effort.
Falmouth has been for decades a yachtsman's dream offering world class sailing waters. An Olymic Gold medalist's learnt skills in this area. World Champion gig racers live in Falmouth. Fisherman's Haven boasts close yachting contacts literally overlooking the shore based Royal Cornwall Yachting Headquarters.
Those with a passion for diving can find support from Cornish Divers (01326 311265). The waters on this coast are littered with the wrecks of past storms and the infamous actions of the wreckers of wilder times!
Water transport provided by ferries and pleasure boats allow easy and relaxing access to the beautiful secluded creeks of the area even Frenchman's Creek is only a few nautical miles away.
Families have a large range of attractions within easy access - Flamards - the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek - Goonhilly Earth Station - numerous National Trust properties and gardens and the Eden project are a few to mention.
The coast path is easily accessable and public transport links can be used to avoid that repeat walk to return to the haven of Sailor's Rest and a cup of tea or glass of ............................

Fisherman's Haven is a high quality, middle apartment in a three storey Victorian house. We have been regular visitors for several years to the house but have always stayed in the top apartment, Crow's Nest (see separate review). One day we wanted to make a short notice booking only to find Crow's Nest was fully booked. "Oh no" we thought, what are we going to do? Easy- we went to Fisherman's Haven instead and have stayed there many times since. It is a two bedroom apartment for three people and enjoys stunning views across Falmouth Harbour. The open plan layout makes it very spacious and is fully equipped. The owners go out of their way to make you feel at home and always leave a welcoming array of goodies. The apartment is a short stroll away from Falmouth Town Centre where there is a good variety of High Street and designer shops, quality restaurants and friendly pubs. Fisherman's Haven can get booked up well in advance so if you see that 'your week' is available- book it. Having stayed in many other places in Cornwall over the years, we look no further than Fisherman's Haven or Crow's Nest. Book one or the other and you will not regret it. |

A lovely apartment, clean and well presented with a complimentary bottle of wine, flowers and milk in the fridge being very welcome after a long journey. The views of the harbour and bay were truly lovely and provided an ever changing scene to pass a wet afternoon. The apartment is well placed for a short walk into the town although there is quite a hill to negotiate on the way back. We found the beds to be on the hard side. Parking proved to be a bit of a problem, with the allocated space having been taken by the other apartment. There were rarely any spaces to be found on the road - we were lucky but it would be annoying if you couldnt get parked and we found ourselves pondering whether to go out in the car and lose the space! Falmouth provides an abundance of things to do - boat trips galor, lovely restaurants and shops. The Roseland Peninsular is worth a visit, either via the short ferry trip from Falmouth or by car via King Harry's Ferry. All in all, we would recommend this apartment and enjoyed our stay very much. |
