Chy-an-Bar a refurbished family home in the heart of Falmouth

House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6

Key Info
  • Beach or lakeside relaxation
  • Great for children of all ages
  • Pets welcome
  • Private garden

Chy An Bar is a charming family house, just four minutes' walk from Falmouth Town. This stunning property can sleep six people in its three bedrooms, with a well-equipped kitchen, pretty dining room, bathroom, second toilet and luxurious living room. Being in central Falmouth gives you the opportunity to eat out, shop, visit the various museums and take walks along the bustling harbour or travel further afield to the Eden Project, sandy beaches and all that Cornwall offers.

This end of terrace town house has been updated in an unpretentious yet elegant style befitting its history as a Packet Ship Captain's residence. Charles Darwin used their ships to send back samples from the Galapagos Islands. Starting with the sitting room, a large sash window brings in plenty of light. An open fire, two comfortable sofa's and a flat screen TV make you feel at home, and a selection of board games as well as WiFi will keep your family entertained in the evenings.

The dining area has a farmhouse style table which seats six and leads into a small, but perfectly equipped kitchen. A double oven, slim-line dishwasher, fridge, microwave and washing machine are included so while there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, dining at home is also a lovely experience. The shower room is located on this floor.

A glass door leads to a covered porch with steps up to the rear terraced garden. This area has views across the roof of the Maritime Museum and up the Penryn River. It is a sunny spot with an outdoor table, chairs and bench seating for alfresco eating, a pre-dinner drink or a spot of sunbathing. There is also space to keep beach toys or water-sports equipment under cover, and a washing line for those wet beach towels.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms: a pretty master bedroom at the front of the house with a double bed, chest of drawers and flat screen TV; a second bedroom with another double bed and at the rear of the house and a third bedroom perfectly suited to children with comfortable bunk beds and views across to the Maritime Museum. A second toilet is also on this floor.

Other features of this dog friendly property include free Wi-Fi, parking for two cars, central heating, towels and kitchen tea towels which are changed weekly and a large shower. All bedding is supplied.

Local attractions include the National Maritime Museum, Falmouth Aquarium, the Princess Pavilion with live music and theatrical events throughout the year and the Ocean Bowl Tenpin Bowling Centre which is open seven days a week. Gyllyngvase Beach is a 10 minute walk from the centre of town with its sandy beach, Paddleboard centre and wonderful Gylly Beach Café. Just to its north is Castle Beach which is perfect for rock-pooling, diving and snorkelling together with another gloriously sandy beach. Also close-by is Swanpool Beach with an excellent water sport centre which offers dinghy sailing, kayaking and windsurfing. There is also a bouncy castle on the beach during the summer months. With fishing, cycling and three beautiful gardens also within walking distance, there really is something for everyone.

"Loved every minute"

Wonderful house that did not disappoint. We (2 couples) have just spent a marvelous week here. It's a lovely house with three (!) bedrooms. We used the third (tiny) room as a luggage storage. CHY… More
