About the home

1 double bedroom with en-suite shower and WC and 2 twins are situated on the ground floor and a further double with four poster bed and en-suite shower and WC upstairs.

A spacious kitchen/diner with travertine floor and oak kitchen units is located on the ground floor with a farmhouse dining table to seat eight, a gas hob with electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Family bathroom with shower over, WC, and heated towel rail.

The large lounge is reached via steps from the kitchen and has wooden flooring, exposed beams, low-level stable doors to the garden, TV, Freeview and DVD. Wireless, internet connection available. A separate WC also on this level.

Enclosed large lawned garden with seating and BBQ. Ample parking. Bed linen, electric and central heating are included. Regret no pets. No smoking in the properties. Towel hire available at £3 per set.

Guests also have access to the 4 acres of grounds, which include a paddock with miniature sheep, pygmy goats, chickens and ducks (which love to be fed!). There is a meadow which can be used for games such as cricket or rounders and a children's play area.

The Falmouth area

Beaches: Of course there are many wonderful beaches in Cornwall, but here are a few of our favourites, located within a 30 minute drive:

Porthtowan: located on the North Coast, a good surfers beach with a children's play area and great café/bar, "The Blue Bar" (www.lookaroundcornwall.com)

Gyllyngvase Beach, Falmouth: Situated on the outskirts of Falmouth, a pleasant sandy beach with good parking and refreshments nearby. (www.cornwallbeachguide.co.uk)

Carbis Bay (near St Ives): Our favourite! Beautiful turquoise sea and a large, sheltered, sandy beach. (www.cornwall-beaches.co.uk)

Crantock Beach, Newquay: Newquay has some wonderful beaches which are popular with surfers and families. Crantock is a quieter beach just outside Newquay

Tourist attractions: The Eden Project (near St Austell): Eden is internationally renowned and highly recommended. There are seasonal events such as an ice-rink, bulb mania and the Eden Sessions (summer concerts). (www.edenproject.com)

Paradise Park, Hayle: is a great family day out with a wide range of exotic birds and other animals and a big indoor playbarn. The bird displays are well worth watching. (www.paradisepark.org.uk)

Crealy Adventure Park (near Wadebridge): is a fun park with rides, adventure play areas and farm animals. A definite favourite with our kids! (www.crealy.co.uk)

Newquay Zoo : is a good day out for children and adults alike with lots to see

Minack Theatre, (Porthcurno): is an amazing open-air theatre built virtually single-handedly by one woman. Can be visited by day to explore, or visit in the evening and enjoy one of the summer performances. Also close to the picturesque Porthcurno beach(www.minack.com)

Local Attractions: Stithians Lake (www.swlakestrust.org.uk ) is one mile away. Fly fishing for trout, sailing, windsurfing and canoeing is available. If you're feeling energetic you can walk or cycle around the lake (5 miles) and reward yourself at the award winning Golden Lion Inn and Lakeside Restaurant (www.golden-lion-inn.co.uk)

Gwennap Pit is an open-air, amphitheatre style pit made famous by visits from the preacher John Wesley in the 1800's (www.cornish-mining.org.uk)

Kennal Vale Nature Reserve is a picturesque wooded valley with the remains of a 19th Century gunpowder works still in evidence (www.cornwallwildlifetrust.org.uk)

From the M5 take the A30 towards Okehampton/Launceston/Bodmin.

Continue along A30 towards Redruth.

Shortly before Redruth take the turn signposted Helston/Scorrier.

Continue straight on from slip road to a small roundabout. Turn right towards Redruth/Helston/Falmouth.

At the next roundabout (by the factory shop) continue straight on up the hill. At the mini roundabout at the top of the hill take the left hand turn signposted Falmouth/Helston A393.

At the double roundabout go straight on towards Lanner/Falmouth/Helston.

At the next roundabout turn left towards Falmouth/Lanner. Follow the A393 into Lanner.

Take the first right turn after the Post Office (which is on the right), into Bell Lane (leading to Chapel Hill).

Follow the steep, narrow road to the top of the hill (0.5 miles) and turn left at the junction by the large grass triangle. Follow the road for half a mile, take the right turn by a small triangle of grass and follow the road for 0.3 miles.

East Trethellan is the first property on the right.

“AN EXCELLENT BASE TO EXPLORE ALL OF CORNWALL” We as a family found this to be a great place to stay.The two young children were catered for indoors with a good selection of toys,books and dvds.Outside they loved the animals and the wide open space to play. The accomodation was very spacious and very clean also there was plenty of room to park.This was set in a very peaceful and rural location, and not to far away to explore any part of Cornwall and its great beaches.I would recommend Trethellan View and hope to go back again in the future.

“Fantastic for extended family holidays” We had a fantastic holiday at East Trethellan. We went with my husband, 2 younger children (5 and 11 months), my parents and brother. The house was very spacious for all of us, and well equipped for families including boxes of toys to suit babies up to approx aged 7, DVDs and lots of books for all the family. The house had a good quality cot and stair gate available too. The farm and play area was a lovely addition to have - the boys loved seeing the animals! The house was clean and well kept with comfortable and attractive furnishings. It was lovely to relax and enjoy the peace. Although the farm is set in a very rural location (you need good directions to find it!) it was central enough to get to beaches about half an hour away and many tourist attractions. I would highly recommend it and hope to visit again in the future!

“A wonderfully relaxing great escape.” Myself, husband and two children plus our very best friends with their children (8 of us in total) stayed at Trethellan View in February half term of this year. It was a last minute decision to have 4 nights away. 4 adults and 4 kids from age 6 to 11. We were so overwhelmed with the amount of space we had for the 8 of us. We never ever felt that we were tripping over each other. The kids had a great time deciding on which room they would have. All very simply decorated but all very cosy in their own right. Plenty of bathrooms too - which is a bonus with 4 kids running around.! The kitchen and especially the very large farmhouse table were very spacious. Plenty of room again to fit us all in. We had great meals altogether. The accomodation itself is very well equipped with pretty much everything you need. We had a couple of minor issues on arrival which were dealt with immediately. The children had the best hide and seek games ever with lots of nooks and cranies for them to hide! We went for a quiet break and this is what we got - lots of games, dvd's and books to brouse through. Weather was not great that time of year but we still managed walks on near by beaches and the around the Stithians Lake. The owners were very accomodating and were quite happy with 4 kids running around on the large garden playing football. Would highly recommend this accomodation and we will definitely be returning.

“Perfect home from home” I can't recommend Trethellan enough. I have stayed here twice. The first time in the smaller one bedroomed barn, which was just so lovely and cosy. And the second time with my whole family in Trethellan View, which is just the most beautiful place to stay for a relaxing break. The hosts, Nicola and Adrian are very welcoming and friendly. As are the chickens! I'll no doubt be back again soon.

“Can't recommend highly enough!” My husband and I first visited and stayed at Trethellan Lodge in Summer 2008 with our 1yr old daughter. The following year we stayed at Trethellan Cottage with our 2yr old and 7mth daughters. The following year we stayed at Trethellan View with our daughters, my sister in law and her then fiancee, my parents in law stayed in the Cottage. So you could say we have definitely had a good experience at this lovely location. All 3 properties are of high standard with all the facilities you could wish for (except high speed internet as this is not available due to the thickness of the walls). We fully intend to return again in the future. The location is central enough to explore most of Cornwall at leisure as it is on a good road network. Indeed we have certainly see quite a bit but still have more to return for. Some good local spots we found included Portreath Beach, Godrievy Head (fab views and a lovely place to have an early evening bbq), Hayle (about 20mins drive) and Watergate Bay (about 45mins, the other side of Newquay and home to Jamie Olivers 15). These are just a few of our favourites. The owners are lovely people and very accommodating, they make you feel very welcome and will help wherever they can. The farm animals are an added bonus with young children, our girls loved to feed them the left overs from our food (veg & fruit peelings or pieces). The play area is good and safe.

“Perfect Place Perfect Location” We have stayed at East Trethellan for two years on the trot and only missed this year due to no availability when booking late. We have stopped in Trethellan Lodge and Trethellan View with our family of 3 and then with extended family of 8 and each time we have been very impressed with the accommodation. On each visit we have been greeted by Nicola and shown around . The cottages have always been immaculately clean with the Lodge being small but perfectly equipped and beautifully decorated and the View being simply stunning. Every eventuality is catered for (Washing, Ironing, Cot, Stair Gates, BBQ, DVDs, Games, Books etc etc) even to the point of a Wine Rack stocked ready for you to enjoy and replace afterwards. Outside is the mostly beautiful surroundings with Chickens, Ducks, Dwarf Goats and other animals that the children loved feeding and petting. The area has a couple of very nice Pubs that both have restaurants if you like to eat out and alsTakeaways's available if don't want to cook. The Cottages are in a perfect place to explore the whole of Cornwall if you don't mind a drive and we have visited some fabulous beaches and sites with the furthest being Land End at about an hour. If you like the Beach visit Kynance Cove, Portcurno, Sennen Cove and we would recommend visiting the Minack Theater, Lands End, Seal Sanctuary and also the Beach Restaurant in Sennen Cove . Can't recommend East Trethellan enough.
