Home description
Dolphin Cottage is a former fisherman's cottage in the waterside village of Flushing, across the water from the busy maritime town of Falmouth. Flushing is reputed to have the mildest climate in the country! The Cottage is located just a few hundred yards from the slipway and quay.
Dolphin Cottage sleeps up to 6 people. It has a comfortably furnished sitting room with a traditional open fire. There is a well equipped kitchen diner which includes a washing machine. Upstairs, the double bedroom has an en suite bathroom. A Shower room is located on the ground floor. There are two further bedrooms - a large twin room and a bunk room, both looking out over the village street. From the pretty terraced garden you can see glimpses of the sea and a lovely view over the rooftops of the quaint village. There is a fenced, decked area complete with arbour and a further patio on the higher terrace. (please take care as some steps are quite steep.)

The West Country / Cornwall region
Flushing itself is located in the South of the county of Cornwall. A very popular tourist spot which is easily accessible from all areas of the country. Cornwall has beautiful beaches and villages and some of the friendliest people you will find.
Other local attractions are Pendennis Castle in Falmouth, the lovely village of St Mawes and of course other attractions nearby such as St Michaels Mount, Lands End and the Eden Project.
Flushing and Falmouth have yearly regattas which are not to be missed!! There are often air shows during the summer months from RAF Culdrose. You'll find lots of information on the cottage website and in the cottage itself.
Falmouth / Flushing area
Flushing is a pretty fishing village on the waterside of the Fal Estuary, opposite the busy harbour town of Falmouth. Dolphin Cottage is located at 20, Kersey Road.
Dutch Settlers named the village after their home town of Vlissingen in Holland in the 17th Century. Flushing later become home to many important Captains of the Packet ships in the 18th Century. Flushing remains largely unspoilt with it's quaint narrow streets full of character and the local pubs full of charm and a warm welcome from the friendly locals.
There is a passenger ferry that runs regularly between Flushing and Falmouth so be sure to take advantage of this, whether it be to see the sights and tourist attractions in Falmouth or to take an onward ferry to the beautful St Mawes, Truro or Trelissick. There is also a bus service that runs from the village and the nearest train station is in Penryn, the neighbouring town, this connects to the mainline services at Truro.
Just a 5 Minute walk away from Dolphin Cottage is the village bowling green which has spectacular elevated views of the over the village accross to Falmouth. The bowling green is complete with a Pirate Ship play area for the children. You can also walk to Flushing's very own Kiln Beach which is a quiet spot with views of the Falmouth Harbour. From the beach you can take a picturesque walk around the headland towards Mylor. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year round. Flushing also has it's own Yacht club and you can charter boats and take part in fishing trips nearby.

Guestbook for Dolphin Cottage
"We had a lovely week staying at Dolphin Cottage. The cottage was lovely - very clean and full of 'olde worlde' charm. Have booked to go again!! The village was delightful, the locals very welcoming. There was lots to do in the local area and we took some very nice photographs of the stunning views. Would highly recommend a meal at Pandora Inn at Restronguet." Mr & Mrs Jackson
"A real home from home. Located in a very pretty village. Very much enjoyed our picturesque daily walk, as did Jasper (our dog)! Pendennis Castle was interesting, as was the trip to the Treasure Park, Cornish Gold Centre, in Redruth where Adrian was very impressed to see James Bond's Aston Martin from Goldfinger. Shopping in Truro is also a must. Would really love to come back soon." Bernadette & Adrian
