The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

Bonnybridge/Falkirk is within the county of Stirlingshire. The city of Stirling is often referred to as the gateway to the North.

History has recorded Stirling as a very important location militarily economically and culturally, With its castle dominating the skyline together with the Wallace Monument there is plenty to interest the visitor, add the nearby Battle of Stirling bridge site and the newly refurbished centre on the history of the medieval Battle of Bannockburn and you are transported back in time. Shopping may be your relaxation,Stirling and the surrounding area blend the old with the modern seamlessly. The arts centre within the university of Stirling offers a wide range of theatre tastes and concerts.Country pursuits and sport contribute to the activities in the region. The cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are within 30 minutes travel by car bus or train.

Falkirk

The local area is a haven for wildlife and has a deer farm highland cattle and a fishery. The world famous Falkirk Wheel which mechanically transfers barges between the Union canal and the Forth and Clyde canal is a mere 3 miles away, the site also has visitor attractions. The historic town of Falkirk is 4 miles away,as you travel from Rowan Tree cottage to the town on a beautiful country road you will pass newly constructed cycle paths through the adjoining woods and countryside. This short journey will take you across the site of the 1746 Battle of Falkirk fought between the Jacobean army of Bonnie Prince Charlie, who was on the field ,and the Hanovarian army of the crown. This site has remained almost untouched since the conflict.Travelling on from Falkirk towards the port town of Grangemouth you will pass the Kelpies, recently erected structures of gigantic horses heads, which are inviting much interest among locals and tourists alike.
