An ideal spot for a comfortable, peaceful beach vacation. Our charming, renovated cottage is located in Lonelyville, on Fire Island a short drive or train ride from New York City.
If you've never visited Fire Island you're in for a treat. Close to the city yet a galaxy away. There are no private cars on the island; we walk or we bike. Services are all available and are no more than a ten minute walk or five minute bike ride away. This is Paradise. Private, safe, quiet, lively, beautiful, close to nature.
With three bedrooms and two full baths, our cottage is comfortable for up to six people. The master bedroom with a queen size bed, has an ensuite bathroom. The guest bedrooms are bright and clean; one has a double bed the other twin beds. Each room has a ceiling fan and is tastefully furnished and decorated.
The dining area with its picture window overlooking the Great South Bay, has a table that extends to seat twelve comfortably. The adjacent kitchen with a wall of windows overlooking the spacious deck, has all you will need; refrigerator/freezer with ice maker; stove; microwave; dishwasher; dishes; pots and pans; toaster-oven....everything you need to prepare meals for your guests and family.
The open plan living room has a large sofa and love seat, a wall of windows overlooking the deck, bookcase, wood stove and ceiling fan. The perfect reading and napping spot. There is a stereo with DVD, CD, iPod dock and an HD flat screen with Satellite service. There is optional Internet service through DSL or Hot Spot/MiFi.
There is a full size Washer/Dryer located between the guest bedrooms.
The outdoor shower is large, clean and conveniently located along the walk from the beach to the house. It has hot and cold water.
The deck is large comfortable and offers a view of the bay and the garden. There are lounges and chairs and plenty of seating. A large table and gas grill affords a lovely spot for lunch and dinners alfresco.
All towels, linens, dishes, flatware, glasses are provided. We have about five beach chairs and several beach umbrellas.
At the Bay end of our block is a "people" dock, with a bench- the perfect spot for cocktails and to celebrate sunsets. We are one block from the Atlantic.
The house comes with three bikes. The supermarket is a short 5minute ride West to Fair Harbor, where you will also find the Pizza store, LeDoc restaurant, liquor store, general store and T-Shirt store.
Lonelyville is one of the oldest communities on Fire Island. There are about twenty houses. It is quiet, peaceful and family oriented-Paradise for kids and their parents.
Our house and the adjacent communities of Lonelyville, Fair Harbor, Saltaire, Kismet and Dunewood suffered no damage from Sandy. The beach is in excellent shape.
