Home description
Situated in the heart of the ancient village of Fabrezan, the house stands on the former site of the medieval keep, facing onto a peaceful, tree-lined square with views of the Faisan tower, last vestige of the medieval citadel. Our small friendly square provides a pleasant outdoor environment for relaxing, eating or socialising in the shade of the trees or in the evening sun. There is no through-traffic and children may play outside.
We have tried to preserve the character of a traditional Corbières village home while providing modern comforts, including en suite bathrooms for all bedrooms. The house boasts beautiful ceiling beams, original doors and fireplace. The old loft has been converted to a mezzanine in the top bedroom. Sleeping accommodation can be adapted to suit guests' requirements. Fabrezan has the advantage of being 40 minutes from Carcassonne airport and within easy reach of Toulouse and Perpignan airports.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Fabrezan is located in the midst of the Corbières vineyards, famous for their robust red wines. It is easily accessible, being only 40 minutes from Carcassonne airport and 5 minutes from the A61 autoroute. It is equidistant from the historic cities of Narbonne and Carcassonne which may both be reached in less than half an hour. The Mediterranean coast is also only 30 minutes away. Cathar castles, medieval abbeys and picturesque villages are all near at hand, and the spectacular Mediterranean countryside with its rocky garrigues and aromatic herbs offers wonderful opportunities for walking or cycling. The Orbieu river, which curves around Fabrezan, is popular with fishermen, while upstream in the neighbouring village of Ribaute, only ten minutes away, it is ideal for swimming, paddling or just sunbathing on the rocks.
Fabrezan area
Amenities in Fabrezan include a bakery, 2 grocery stores, 3 café/bars with food available, a tabac, a post office, a pharmacy, a pizzeria and two excellent restaurants. There is a large well-stocked supermarket at 7 minutes’ drive. However, Wednesday would not be complete without a visit to the weekly market at Lézignan, just 10 minutes away. Recreational facilities include a local sports centre with tennis courts and a pétanque area, a children's playground and a football pitch. A small museum is devoted to Fabrezan's famous son, Charles Cros: poet, musician and inventor. Throughout the summer period there are musical events of all kinds in towns and villages around the area. Street fairs (antiques, bric-a-brac, crafts) are also a common occurrence.
How to get there
Ferry crossing / Channel Tunnel from UK and drive to Fabrezan using French autoroutes. We are only 5 km from the A61 Junction 25.
Alternatively, fly RyanAir to Carcassonne airport and hire a car at the airport. Fabrezan is just 40 minutes away.

Guestbook
'It is very good value for money."
'Thoroughy enjoyed our stay in the house. Plenty of room even with 9 of us. It was very clean and homely and with a fantastic location. We hope that future guests will enjoy their stay as much as we did.
"The house was great, everything that you might need. It was a great location, centre of the village and we used the shops, cafes, bars daily. We both loved the region. The picnic gear came in very useful."
'The house is extremely well-equipped, ideally situated and very comfortable.'
'A lovely week re-visiting our favourite places from last year. Our friends enjoyed the river as much as we did.'
