The house is central to the town of Eymoutiers and the Bed I slept in was great and here are the BUTTS I am 64 with ankles and hips that do not cope with steep stairs, and that is what the house has. … More
We are sad that your house hunting trip ended so abruptly for you.
The layout of the house is clear in our description and we also made a point of referencing the steep stairs.
Sadly we were unable to offer a refund as we had turned away other bookings for your chosen period.
A discount was given though at the time of booking.
It is a shame that your time in France did not meet your expectations. We understand from experience that property searching can be difficult and hope that you have not been deterred.

"Couldn't be better. Accommodation and location were perfect."
We were looking for a quite getaway for a few days and Eymoutiers was the ideal location. We have visited the Limousin a few times and the scenery is spectacular, with lots of interesting things to do – a trip to the lakes is a must! The town itself has everything you need. There are a selection of restaurants and bars; our favourite is 'The Bistro' just round the corner from 'Number 6'. We just sat outside enjoying a glass of wine and watched the world go by. If you are looking for a nice place to eat, try 'The Cave' but make sure you book ahead.
Breakfast and lunch are easy. We just walked to the end of the street and picked up the most wonderful patisseries and fresh bread, all baked that day on the premises. There is a butcher three doors down from the gites and on a Sunday morning there is a wonderful smell of spit roast chicken but make sure you order the day before if you want to be certain of getting one for lunch the next day.
The information on the gites advised having a car, we didn't take one and really didn't notice. Everything you needed was available within a short walk and if you wanted to travel further afield, the train station is a short walk away for getting into Limoges, or regular bus services go out to the lake. Maybe if you were staying for a couple of weeks and wanted to explore further afield it would be a good idea.
The house itself is lovely, 'home from home'. Everything you need for a pleasant stay. The advert doesn't mention it but there is a small, private courtyard at the back with a table and chairs, we sat out every morning eating our breakfast and just relaxed. The beds looked very 'French traditional' but were in fact incredibly comfortable as were all of the furnishings. We didn't spend much time in but there was a TV and huge selection of DVD's and a few board games to keep the kids happy in the evening. The kitchen has everything you need – even a dishwasher but as there were only the two of us we either ate out or brought in local delicacies.
Do visit the Tourist Information on the first day (just round the corner on the left), the lady was really helpful and there are lots of local maps and info on things like walks, mountain bike and horse riding trails. We couldn't fit it all in but plan to try next time we visit.
All in all we thoroughly recommend it. The owners Clive and Nicki were really helpful right from the point we first contacted them and were on hand nearby if there were any problems – of which thankfully there weren't any.
Thanks for a lovely stay.
