About this location
The Devon region
Exmouth marks the western gateway of the Jurassic World Heritage coastline. The beach has 2 miles of golden sands and distinctive dramatic cliffs of red Jurassic rock which characterises these Devon coastlines. There is no shortage of leisure opportunities with sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, water skiing, diving, tennis, bowls, cricket, river cruises and many more. The excellent facilities of Woodbury Park Golf and Country Club are also nearby.
Exmouth itself is a traditional resort with promenade and elegant Georgian architecture. The town itself is bustling with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a regular rail route from Exmouth to the Cathedral City of Exeter every half hour (11 miles), and the resorts of Budleigh Salterton (4 miles) and Sidmouth (10 miles) are a short road journey away.
