The cathedral city of Exeter has many places of interest to visit, as well as several small theatres.
The sandy beaches of Exmouth are close by.
National Cycle Network route 2 passes the door of the cottage and provides an excellent way to explore the Exe Estuary on foot or by bike.
The East Devon Way also passes through the village and the southwest coast footpath is nearby.
The National Trust property A La Ronde is within walking distance and across the estuary is Powderham Castle.

"Compact and Bijou"
I spent a very comfortable five nights at Brookfield Cottages. Having never travelled to this area before I was astonished at the range of outdoor activities within easy reach of the front door. No 7 … More

"Small but well formed! Excellent renter."
The lady who rented this property was incredibly accommodating, allowing us to book a Tuesday to Bank holiday Monday, and posting the keys to us beforehand as we would be arriving in the early hours of the morning. The cottage is small, but had everything we needed. No room for a travel cot, but fortunately we had brought a 'side' we could fix to the bottom bunk, and the children loved being in a bunk bed in the same room! The TV did not work, but we were not bothered by this. If we had been bothered by it, we could simply have gone to the people in the cafe next door, who apparently help with the housekeeping of the cottage. Perfect situation with cafe next door and pub opposite (no noise was heard coming from pub when in bed). Loved our stay here.

"Delightfull small cottage"
Very warm and cosy. Well fitted kitchen. Comfortable sitting room area. Comfortable bed. Second bedroom very small, only suitable for small children. Bathroom downstairs but ok once you got used to the shower operation. Four decent pub/restaurants within walking distance. Including the Swan across the road. Lots of nice walks in the area.

"Pleasant, well-equipped & well-priced cottage in convenient location"
Not as small as it looks from the pictures - size quite adequate for a small family.
Cosy, well-equipped and well-maintained at a competitive price.
Spectacularly convenient location: cafe next door, supermarket 2 doors away, pub opposite, local train line 20m away, pebble river shore 100m.
Easy access to Exmouth (2.5 miles, footpath or regular trains) for sandy beaches, Exeter (short train ride), Devon coast both sides of Exe estuary, Dartmoor etc.
